<strong>WVU</strong> Bariatrics is a comprehensive surgical weight<br />
loss program with a strong multidisciplinary focus on<br />

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery<br />
The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Division<br />
performs more than 750 open-heart procedures and<br />
300 thoracic surgical procedures annually. <strong>WVU</strong> is the<br />
only institution in the region that performs minimally<br />
invasive mitral valve repair and the pediatric cardiac<br />
surgery program is the only program <strong>of</strong>fering cardiac<br />
surgery for children in the state.<br />
General and Endocrine Surgery<br />
The General Surgery Division is the largest within the<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Surgery. Surgeons <strong>of</strong>fer expertise<br />
in all aspects <strong>of</strong> general surgical care and perform<br />
than 2,500 procedures annually. Additionally, General<br />
Surgery faculty members provide 24-hour surgical<br />
coverage for emergencies.<br />

Hand Surgery<br />
<strong>WVU</strong>’s hand surgeons perform a range <strong>of</strong> procedures<br />
and <strong>of</strong>fer expertise in all hand disorders such as injuries,<br />
arthritic conditions, carpal tunnel, acute trauma,<br />
tendon disorders, tendon and nerve repairs and reimplantations.<br />
This division <strong>of</strong>fers 24-hour coverage <strong>of</strong><br />
all hand and wrist emergencies and referrals.<br />

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery<br />
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division<br />
performs a full range <strong>of</strong> cosmetic and reconstructive<br />
surgeries for patients from around the state and<br />
region. Surgeons perform more than 600 cosmetic<br />
surgeries annually. Additionally, surgeons also work to<br />
correct defects caused by injury, surgery, or congenital<br />

Surgical Oncology<br />
The Division <strong>of</strong> Surgical Oncology provides surgical<br />
treatment <strong>of</strong> cancer in a comprehensive multimodality<br />

Urology<br />
The Division <strong>of</strong> Urology’s primary focus includes<br />
urologic oncology, female urology, urinary tract stone<br />
disease, and voiding dysfunction. The division has also<br />
launched programs in brachytherapy for prostate and<br />
kidney cancer, in laparoscopic and robotic urology, and<br />
in sacral neuromodulation.<br />

Vascular and Endovascular Surgery<br />
The Division <strong>of</strong> Vascular and Endovascular Surgery<br />
<strong>of</strong>fers a wide variety <strong>of</strong> traditional open surgical procedures<br />
for the treatment <strong>of</strong> carotid, aneurysmal,<br />
peripheral arterial occlusive disease, and dialysis access<br />
construction. Minimally invasive surgery is also<br />
conducted including: diagnostic angiography, endovascular<br />
aneurysm repair, peripheral arterial intervention,<br />
carotid artery angioplasty and stent placement, dialysis<br />
access intervention and endovenous RF/laser closure<br />
<strong>of</strong> varicose veins.<br />
