15 Integrated protection Uncompromising safety Just as the i30 hatch and wagon are designed to be the epitome of style, comfort, space, power and economy, they also set extremely high standards for safety. Passenger safety is essential and Hyundai places huge emphasis on helping drivers to avoid accidents from happening in the first place. The i30 hatch and wagon are fitted with several remarkable features that help the driver to maintain control even in critical situations. These include the reassurance of ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), an advanced safety feature designed to avoid serious accidents and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) that applies optimum pressure to individual brakes in emergency braking situations. 16 ESP – Electronic Stability Programme The i30 hatch and wagon’s ESP system, an advanced standard safety feature, helps you remain in control of your vehicle during critical situations to avoid serious accidents. The ESP system achieves this by comparing the driver’s intention with the momentary vehicle behaviour and controls the Antilock Braking (ABS) and Traction Control Systems (TCS) accordingly, to initiate the appropriate corrective action by selectively braking individual wheels and controlling engine power.
