Europe:<br />
An EU Referendum<br />
We believe there is strength in numbers. Worker’s rights are protected by union<br />
membership. The EU represents collective bargaining power on a global scale.<br />
The UK’s withdrawal from Europe would be disastrous <strong>for</strong> the North East. Large<br />
employers like Nissan would leave the UK, taking more than 25,000 jobs with them.<br />
The EU is not perfect but needs to be fixed rather than discarded!<br />
We will:<br />
· Fight against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and<br />
it’s undermining of our democratic process and stealth privatisation of the<br />
NHS<br />
· Campaign to reduce the influence of corporate lobbyists and vested interests<br />
around the EU.<br />
· Hold a referendum on UK withdrawal from the EU (but we would strongly urge<br />
the country to remain).<br />
