Special Olympics Alpine Ski,<br />
Nordic Ski & Snowshoe<br />
Racing/Training<br />
Let it snow! This program is designed for any<br />
level of skier, whether you are an experienced<br />
skier or trying it for the first time. Instructors<br />
are certified through Special Olympics in alpine/<br />
nordic skiing/snowshoe racing. Please dress appropriately<br />
for cold weather. Eligible athletes<br />
may participate in the State Winter Games in<br />
Galena, February 1 - 3. In order to be eligible<br />
for Winter Games athletes must attend 6 training<br />
nights and 2 mandatory area competitions,<br />
successfully complete Special Olympics skill<br />
assessments and for alpine skiers demonstrate<br />
the ability to control and maneuver a downhill<br />
course based on the judgement of the Area 18<br />
training committee.<br />
