Key Outdoor <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> benefits<br />

The lightweight, high efficiency Outdoor <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> is easy to install in outdoor<br />

environments. The unit comes in a specially designed outdoor rated enclosure<br />

with multiple air exhaust fans. To maximize cooling, the isolation transformer is<br />

housed in an IP23 outer enclosure. Sensitive components are housed in an IP55<br />

inner case. Overall equivalent is to an IP44(NEMA-3R) enclosure.<br />

The automatic bypass assures that connected equipment will not shut down,<br />

even if <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> fails. <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> is compatible with all loads as it does not switch<br />

any components in the power path. <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong>’s ultra-low impedance assures<br />

stability even with the most demanding loads.<br />

The automatic over-voltage cutoff with automatic restart ensures that operation<br />

is off-line during serious over-voltage situations that could damage the system<br />

and/or load, and then restarts without intervention when the ac mains voltage<br />

returns to the normal operating range.<br />

The <strong>ILc</strong> isolation line conditioner components provide maximum equipment<br />

protection against surges, spikes and transients, for higher equipment reliability<br />

and maximum equipment operating life. In addition, the <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> offers<br />

improved repeatability, fewer reboots or system lock-ups. A reduction in<br />

equipment down time and service costs can also be expected.<br />

How the Outdoor <strong>VRp</strong>-<strong>ILc</strong> works<br />

The high frequency insulated gate bi-polar transistor (IGBT) driven converter<br />

takes the incoming ac power, measures against the nominal voltage and adds<br />

or subtracts voltage, 20,000 times per second, to achieve precisely regulated<br />

230/400 vac three phase output.<br />

The Automatic Bypass will be activated when there is a fault condition.<br />

A green LED indicates normal regulated protected mode operation.<br />

The over-voltage cutoff is activated whenever the ac mains voltage becomes<br />

dangerously high (over 475vac). It automatically restarts whenever ac mains<br />

voltage is restored to a safe level.<br />

At extremely low ac input conditions it can be operated at limited duty cycle.<br />

A low-impedance isolation transformer provides complete isolation between the<br />

primary and secondary, and permits bonding between output neutral to ground,<br />

which completely eliminates all disturbances between neutral and ground.<br />

The leakage inductance of the isolation transformer, in combination with<br />

capacitive elements and metal oxide varistors (MOVs), provide superb noise<br />

filtering, as well as coordinated multi-stage surge protection in accordance with<br />

the principles of IEC-61312. Multiple cooling fans control the unit’s internal<br />

temperature, with intakes at the bottom of the unit and exhaust through the top<br />

rear of the unit, protected with a rain guard/sunshield.<br />
