ROLE SUMMARY<br />

England Hockey Board (EHB) is the National Governing Body for the sport of Hockey. EHB has income and<br />

expenditure of circa £7m p.a. It is responsible for the management and development of the sport from grass<br />

roots to elite activities.<br />

Entering into a very exciting phase with London 2012 just 18 months away, EHB has an unparalleled<br />

opportunity to engage existing and new audiences. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to<br />

translate this interest into sales of EHB’s products and services.<br />

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

The main duties include, but are not limited to:<br />

Responsibility for executing corporate sales strategy in relation to corporate packages ensuring that<br />

revenue targets are exceeded<br />

Closing sales of such EHB corporate packages including matchday corporate hospitality, business club<br />

membership and advertising packages<br />

Generate sponsorship leads and work with the Commercial and Membership Director to secure<br />

sponsors<br />

Manage and deliver telesales campaigns particularly to clubs and schools for the bulk buying of tickets<br />

and educational products, but also to individuals<br />

Creating and delivering on-brand presentations to targeted partners<br />

Identifying and developing contacts in the corporate world<br />

Building relationships with third parties who would help us reach new audiences<br />

Managing the sales pipelines in an efficient, organized and ultimately successful manner<br />

Work collaboratively with all EHB employees, particularly the CRM Officer to identify relevant sales<br />

targets and the Marketing and Communications team to provide insight to help the prospect of<br />

generating sales<br />

The successful candidate will be required to:<br />

Meet and exceed agreed revenue as well as net profit targets.<br />

Develop innovative new partnerships that complement the brand strategy and drive revenue.<br />

Embed operational excellence and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Commercial<br />

Team.<br />

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE<br />

You will have:<br />

Minimum three years’ experience in a sales environment<br />

Experience and competencies required:<br />

Educated to Graduate level or can demonstrate intellectual capability in terms of numeracy and<br />

literacy<br />

Proven sales experience, ideally in a rights-holder environment, with a creative approach to business<br />

development<br />

A track record of achieving sales targets<br />

Excellent communication skills, particularly confidence in presenting over the telephone or face to<br />

face<br />

Experience of using CRM system, Powerpoint and Excel to manage sales processes<br />

Excellent organisational and time management skills<br />

Persuasive communicator and positive interpersonal skills both with clients and colleagues<br />

Excellent project management skills<br />

A results-orientated mentality<br />

An ambitious attitude to career development<br />
