34. SPECIAL RESERVE AND NON-DISTRIBUTABLE RESERVE

Group
The amounts of the Group’s reserves and the movements therein for the current and prior
years are presented in the consolidated statement of changes in equity on page 6 of the
financial statements.
The special reserve of the Group represents the difference between the nominal value of
the share capital issued by the Company and the nominal value of the share capital of the
subsidiaries acquired pursuant to a group reorganisation in 2004.
The non-distributable reserve of the Group represents the statutory reserve which comprised
of capital reserve and statutory reserve funds appropriated from the profit after taxation
of the subsidiaries established in Mainland China in accordance with the PRC laws and
regulations.
