Rules and Regulations<br />

1. Players must be registered with <strong>Volleyball</strong> <strong>Victoria</strong> or equivalent State Body to participate in this tournament.<br />

2. All preliminary matches will be best of three sets scored to 25 no time limit. If required a third set played to 15 with a<br />

changeover at 8 points through the set. All matches will have an outcome.<br />

3. Finals matches will be a “best of 5 sets”. Finals format will be dependant of number of entries..<br />

4. Guaranteed 10 mins warm up prior to start of match. Listed time on draw is start of match. Times on draw are<br />

Guaranteed Earliest Start Time (GEST).<br />

5. Teams must present at least 6 players for each match If through injury during a tournament match only this number<br />

is reduced to 5 the team will be permitted to play without penalty. Teams playing with 5 players must play gap in<br />

the empty position maintaining other rotational positions. A loss of rally will apply when the “gap” rotates to position<br />

1 to serve. Should a team be reduced to less than 5 players, the match or remainder t<strong>here</strong>of will be forfeited, but<br />

any points gained during the unfinished match will be retained for the purpose of calculating percentage.<br />

6. If a team fails to show at the start of the match they forfeit the first set and if t<strong>here</strong> is not a complete team after 10<br />

minutes the match will be forfeited 2-0. (25-0, 25-0)<br />

7. Players must take the court in 60% of available matches to qualify for finals<br />

8. The 12 substitution rule as applied by the AVF will be used for all divisions.<br />

9. The Libero player may be changed after each set but the player must wear a contrasting top and a unique number<br />

to his/her team members.<br />

10. Teams rostered for duty are to supply 1st referee, 2nd referee, scorer and 2 linesmen. All Honours matches will<br />

be supplied with 1st referee.<br />

11. All teams MUST fulfil duty obligations. The penalty for failing to fulfil duty obligations for any single game will<br />

be a loss of 2 premiership points.<br />

12. REFEREES ARE TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN WHISTLES.<br />

13. The scheduled start times for the last game on each day will be determined by the number of entries received<br />

14. A player may compete in only the division for which he/she has nominated. The organizing committee has the authority<br />

to vary this rule under special circumstances.<br />

15. All players will play at their own risk and the Geelong Amateur <strong>Volleyball</strong> Association will not be held responsible for<br />

any medical or associated costs incurred.<br />

16. Any disputes or protests that arise during a match shall be referred to the referee delegate for immediate resolution.<br />

If the protest is overturned, the protesting team will incur loss of rally.<br />

17. Any issues arising with the draw will handled by the tournament director.<br />

18. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter grading, if necessary.<br />

19. Championships points are; Win - 3 points, Loss – 1 points, Forfeit – 0 point loss.<br />

20. Players deemed to be out of uniform at the start of the match will incur a 6 rally points loss per set against the team,<br />

for each player out of uniform.<br />

21. The tournament committee will have absolute authority as to the interpretation of these rules and will have the power<br />

to decide any issues not covered in these rules.<br />

22. The stadium has a heat policy, which will be implemented when the temperature reaches 32 degrees C<br />

23. All other rules not stated <strong>here</strong> apply as per FIVB 2008-2012 Rules.
