The amount of equipment that can enhance your workout
ADVENTURE
trips
MEN’S WATER POLO
Penn is an urban campus surrounded
by opportunities to explore the great
outdoors. Each semester activities
include biking, hiking & backpacking,
rock climbing, skiing & snowboarding,
and more! Trip leaders are experienced
and trained to provide exciting and
safe outings designed for the beginner
level unless specific pre-requisites
are noted. We suggest at least two
20 minute sessions of exercise each
week to meet the moderate level of
physical fitness required for our trips
– but the best preparation is a positive
and adventurous attitude. All outdoor
courses are listed in the Activity Guide
available in Membership Services, or
on our website. To join the Outdoor
Adventure listserv, contact outdoors@
National competition as the 9th seed. After a convincing victory over the University of
Oregon, they lost to both Florida International University and Michigan State. They finished
7th out of 16 after defeating Middlebury in their final game. The team looks forward to
SPORTS 101
This past fall, Structured Sport
created one day clinics to promote
female participation in Intramurals.
The first clinic was basketball in
the fall and softball and volleyball
were offered in the spring. These
clinics are open to females who
are affiliated with the university
whether they are students, faculty
or staff. The Department of
Recreation’s sport clubs assist in
the clinics with a presentation and
then a demonstration to teach the
fundamentals of the sports that are
offered on campus.
8
CLUB CONTACTS
Those who desire sport club membership seek regular participation under a more
coherent design than offered by informal or intramural activities.
CLUB ORGANIZATION
All active sport clubs have obtained approval for the club to begin with the Department
of Recreation. Some active sport clubs will have a faculty or staff advisor associated with
them; however, the club’s elected leadership (president, vice-president, secretary and
treasurer) manage all aspects of the sport club. Recognized sport clubs can receive
funding from the Student Activities Council through allocations approved by the Sport
Club Executive Board.
ELIGIBILITY
Students make up the majority of those participating on Penn Sport Club teams; however,
full-time faculty and staff are also eligible to participate on a club team. All sport club
teams at the University of Pennsylvania are “recognized student organizations” and
therefore will keep an affiliation with the Office of Student Life.
