<strong>MUSIC</strong> AND DANCE<br />
All of the information you need to enter Music and Dance<br />
competition is in the following pages. Please scroll down to<br />
the schedule, then the rules, and the Entry Form.<br />
Art and Music are Area Competitions only. There is no State<br />
Competition for Art and Music. Some Areas do Music only<br />
and some Areas do Art only. Please look at the schedule<br />
closely.<br />
All Coaches must have a current Class A Volunteer Form on<br />
file and must take the Protective Behaviors class available<br />
on our website. There is no Coaches certification for Art and<br />
Music.

SECTIONAL <strong>MUSIC</strong> <strong>FESTIVAL</strong>S<br />
Select Areas will host Sectional Music Festivals to celebrate the art of Music! Music Festivals<br />
are open to any and all <strong>Special</strong> <strong>Olympics</strong> participant. They are not a competition - but rather an<br />
expression of talent and creativity.<br />
SECTIONAL <strong>MUSIC</strong> <strong>FESTIVAL</strong> <strong>ENTRY</strong> <strong>FORM</strong>S<br />
The Music Festival Entry Form includes entry space for Vocal, Dance & Instrumental<br />
registration. Please use one entry form per act. Attach a list of all participants names in the act to the<br />
Entry if the act is a group.<br />
Take a copy of each participating Athletes’ Medical/Release form to the Music Event.<br />
<strong>ENTRY</strong> CATEGORIES<br />
1. Dance<br />
Folk * Square Dance * Popular Dance * Creative Dance * Cheerleading/Drill<br />

2. Vocal<br />
Solo * Group (2-6 people) * Choral (7+ people) * Lip Sync<br />
NOTE: Instruments or taped music may be used as accompaniment<br />

Any musical instrument * Self-made instrument<br />
NOTE: Participants may enter: Individual - Small Ensemble - Band/Orchestra<br />
TIME RESTRICTIONS<br />
Vocal, Dance & Instrumental numbers should be limited to:<br />
Solo - not to exceed 5 minutes<br />
Group - not to exceed 10 minutes<br />
<strong>MUSIC</strong><br />
All Festival performers must provide their own performance music (i.e. record, cassette, CD,<br />
piano player.) Cassettes should be marked, cued-up and ready to play.<br />
EQUIPMENT<br />
Equipment available: Public address system - Microphone - Record/Cassette/CD Player.<br />
NOTE: All performers must furnish their own instruments, except for a piano - which will<br />
usually be available. You must advise your Festival Director if you will need a piano and<br />
what type of player you will need for your music - Record player, Cassette or CD.<br />
SPECIAL NEEDS/REQUESTS<br />
If there are any special requests or needs, contact your Festival Director prior to the Festival.<br />
REMINDER<br />
Music Festivals are not competitions, but are designed to allow <strong>Special</strong> <strong>Olympics</strong> participants<br />
the opportunity to showcase their musical talents. Everyone is encouraged to participate!
