3QBD
www.3qbd.com
Category:
Diagnostics
Company at a Glance
Located in Arad, Israel, 3QBD Ltd. is an ISO certified start up medical device company.
The company has developed the VGTest, is an In-Vitro Molecular Diagnostic (IVD) device
based on Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) which is used currently for detection of Vaginal
Discharge Infections (VDI).
In December 2009 3QBD Ltd. received the European CE mark for the VGTest, a device
capable of detecting and provides a positive/negative indication for Bacterial Vaginosis
(BV), the most prevalent women’s vaginal infection within 60 seconds.
Future development plans for 3QBD include further research into the VDI field, to detect
additional infections and expanding to other diseases like STD and Cancer, to offer rapid,
accurate results. Further expending to other markets like food and livestock.
Technology and Product(s)
IMS (Ion Mobility Spectrometry) Technology
3QBD’s technology is based on the well established and scientifically proven Ion Mobility
Spectrometry (IMS) technology – first used successfully to detect drugs and explosives.
Today IMS is being used to detect presence and type of infection.
Chemical changes in living systems, or degradation of cells after death through
enzymatic and microbial processes, are accompanied by the breakdown of amino-acids
and production of biogenic amines. Pathological conditions in the human body may be
expressed in the formation of biogenic amines, so that elevated levels of biogenic amines
may be indicative of dysfunctions. IMS is a sensitive instrumental technique for detecting
volatile compounds. It is based on measuring the velocity of ions (ion mobility) drifting
through a gas bath under the influence of an electric field.
The Product
The device works by measuring biogenic amines that are present at elevated levels in
infections and diseases and provides a rapid and accurate indication. In the case of the
BV the result is provided within one minute. The VGTest for BV spares the physician from
having to perform the Amsel Test and “whiff tests” of vaginal fluid or spend time waiting
for laboratory Gram Stain results
Goal
Objectives: Distribution for BV, Strategic allaincess, R&D Funding
Target Businesses: Women’s Health professionals, gynecologists, obstetricians, hospitals
and health clinics
means of conventional medicine.
Based on extensive experience in offering individualized personal service to patients,
Aerotel has designed the MDwave to provide maximum flexibility and efficiency to meet
each patient’s distinctive requirements. Aerotel experts are continually working to include
the latest Frequency Medicine knowhow, in the MDwave system. This product has been
developed over an eight-year period and is complaint with the following standards: FCC
and CE 60601-1 and 2.
Technology and Product(s)
Aerotel Ltd. has developed a breakthrough medical device, known as MDwave, which
restores energy levels and treats chronic and acute conditions through the use of
Frequency Medicine. Recent studies have demonstrated the positive effect of a low
strength electromagnetic field in specific frequencies, on various systems of our body,
demonstrating high efficacy of such treatments.
MDwave is based on creating a low electromagnetic field that impacts the human cell
properties under health and diseased conditions. This field delivers a safe electromagnetic
energy to the human cells, which encourages them to return to proper and balanced
function, and to operate in a healthy and harmonious way. This enables the immune
system to improve its ability to withstand the daily battle against energy-sapping pollutants,
hence increasing the body’s ability to heal itself.
MDwave is a completely safe, compact and easy-to-use device for administering Frequency
Medicine therapy, via an Electromagnetic field. To get started, you simply connect the MDwave
to a computer and choose from an extensive list of treatments the desired routine for your
patient. Once the treatment routine is set, the MDwave operates without a computer.
Biovo develops breakthrough products for hospital intensive care (ICU). Our products aim
to provide highly effective patient care, with less nurse work effort, and reduce VAP risk.
Technology & Product(s)
Breakthrough products for hospital intensive care (ICU):
(1) AirVent - Effective ETT biofilm cleaning integrated in a closed suction system. Biofilm
buildup clogs ETT tubes, increase risk of VAP and decrease air patency of the ETT lumen. The
AirVent Closed Suction System incorporates new lumen cleaning capabilities combination
with conventional suction action within the familiar closed suction framework.
(2) PoliVent – VAP infection prevention with novel non-inflatable self-expanding cuff of
Endo-tracheal tubes. All present ETT inflatable cuff balloon systems fail to effectively
prevent leak of infected oral fluids considered the primary source of VAP infection in ICU.
All present ETT cuff pressure is unstable require repeated adjustments by ICU nurse. For
the first time, the Poliventreplace the balloon with a new fluids blocking cuff system. The
PoliVent ETT cuff is self-expanding with no need of air inflation and no need of repeated
pressure monitoring and adjustment by the ICU nurse, and providing continuous stable
blocking of infected fluids leak.
Company at a Glance
Discover Medical Devices (DMD) has developed a revolutionary new Continuous Positive Air
Pressure (CPAP) interface – the SomnuSeal masks line for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
Patients quickly adjust to the comfortable self-adaptable oral mask, solving the market’s
greatest problem – how to increase the low compliance rates for CPAP treatments. This is
an unmet need and DMD is the first to successfully address it. DMD makes it possible for
the market, with its well established distribution, sales and reimbursement infrastructure,
to grow from $3B and reach its full $30B potential.
SomnuSeal benefit for a strategic partner:
• Will increase worldwide market by >3b$/yr
• Answers an unmet need (no current competition)
• Perceived “Innovative” and “Leading edge” technology.
• Will provide a massive competitive advantage and ‘locking in’ of the newly acquired
market share of non compliant patients
Technology and Product(s)
Approximately 5% of the population requires CPAP treatment for OSA, including more
than 15 million people in the US and 350 million more around the world.
DMD designed the revolutionary SomnuSeal masks from the ground up to solve the most
serious problem in the OSA market today – despite the dangers of OSA, roughly 50%
of diagnosed patients stop their CPAP treatment because they cannot sleep comfortably
with the cumbersome masks that exist today.
In contrast to available traditional masks, DMD’s solution (the SomnuSeal masks line) uses
the natural oral cavity anatomy to create the seal required for effective CPAP treatment.
This innovative development makes it very easy for patients to quickly adjust to the DMD
small self-adaptable mask, which does not occupy external facial structures, does not
contact sensitive internal oral structures, and does not create any of the side effects that
are typical of existing devices.
The SomnuSeal is the first and only mask that addresses the non compliant patient market
segment successfully.
Technology & Product(s)
URINFO 2000 offers automated urine output monitoring for patients in the acute care
setting. Today, there is no effective means by which this important marker can be measured
and captured reliably, continuously, and in real-time. Urine output, today, is measured
with mechanical urine meters which are labor intensive, based on manual volume
readings, and do not provide current urine output data. URINFO 2000, enables physicians
to optimize fluid management and acute renal care by automating the monitoring of
urine output accurately in real-time, continuously. Automated monitoring can result in
earlier detection, more rapid intervention, and improved patient outcomes and reduced
hospital costs. URINFO 2000 is comprised of a small electronic unit (display and cradle
for disposable) installed on the bed and a disposable that connects to any catheter and is
IceCure Medical Ltd. (TASE: ICCM) develops and commercializes office-based, minimallyinvasive,
Cryoablation platform in the area of Women’s Health. One in 4 women in the
U.S. is diagnosed with benign tumors in the breast (Fibroadenomas) or the uterus (uterine
fibroids). These tumors account for > 700,000 surgeries each year in the U.S. IceCure
offers a safe and effective treatment alternative to surgery, that may be performed in the
physician’s office or in an outpatient facility.
IceCure Medical Introduces IceSense3: a minimally invasive, office-based, Cryoablation
treatment of breast Fibroadenoma. Clinical studies have shown Cryoablation to be a safe
and effective alternative to surgery for treatment of breast Fibroadenoma. Based on these
studies, a reimbursement code has been defined for in-office procedures (CPT 19105),
and the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBS) has issued a consensus statement
about the product’s safety, efficacy and durability.
IceSense3 is approved for sale in the US and Europe.
Technology & Product(s)
IceSense3 unique technology uses liquid nitrogen for rapid freezing of the lesion. The
system, with its intuitive graphical user interface is designed for maximum flexibility and
simplicity for a single operator. IceSense3 is compatible with the latest advancements
in ultrasound-guided interventions, such as 3D navigation, for a faster and more accurate
procedure.
IceSense3 is the natural choice for patients and physicians:
• Excellent cosmetic results - Regardless of fibroadenoma size, the probe is inserted
through a 3 mm incision, causing virtually no scar. No tissue is physically removed,
hence there is no deformation of the breast, and there is no impact on the shape or
appearance of the breast.
• Quick Procedure - With the IceSense3 rapid cooling technology, treatment takes as
little as 5-15 minutes (depending on the size of the treated area), saving precious time.
• No pain - The freezing has an analgesic effect, so the patient hardly feels anything
during treatment. Local anesthesia is used for the insertion of the probe, much like a
biopsy procedure.
• No Downtime - The patient can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
With IceSense3, the treatment of breast FibroadenoUp-to 1250 Charachters
Itamar Medical Ltd., is a public traded (TASE: ITMR) bio-medical technology company. Itamar
develops and markets noninvasive diagnostic medical equipment based on proprietary
PAT (Peripheral Arterial Tone) Signal. The PAT Signal serves as a noninvasive window
to the Cardiovascular and Autonomic Nervous Systems.
The PAT Signal is acquired by measuring pulsatile arterial volume changes in the fingertip
by specialized noninvasive probes. Itamar’s FDA cleared and CE marked PAT-based
products are:
• Endo-PAT2000: noninvasive, office-based, user-independent device for endothelial
function assessment – the precursor (earliest clinically detectable stage) of cardiovascular
disease.
• Watch-PAT200: ambulatory diagnosis of sleep related breathing disorders and sleep
staging (Wake/REM/Deep sleep/light sleep stages).
Both devices are used in preeminent clinical institutions, research centers and Pharmaceutical
clinical phase studies in over 40 countries which have yielded nearly 300 publications.
Technology and Product(s)
Sleep testing - at home
Considered “best in class”, WatchPAT (FDA cleared and CE marked) is a wrist mounted
device for at-home testing of sleep apneas and sleep staging (REM/Deep Sleep/Light
Sleep/Wake stages). WatchPAT also measures snoring and body position and provides a
perfect combination of natural sleep at home with sleep-lab level data.
WatchPAT works without the multiple cables and electrodes needed by other technologies
which provide in-depth analysis of sleep, so it has an incredibly low failure rate. Yet the
physician gets a comprehensive report with all the clinical parameters needed for patient
treatment and monitoring. While the data is calculated automatically by the WatchPAT’s
software, the physician can easily edit the data too.
Noninvasive cardiovascular risk assessment
Atherosclerosis is the clinical manifestation of endothelial dysfunction. Leading the field
of endothelial function assessment, EndoPAT (FDA cleared and CE marked) is used in
pre-eminent clinical institutions, research centers and Pharma studies. The noninvasive
EndoPAT has been validated by nearly 100 publications and abstracts and provides
clinicians with reliable and reproducible results in an office-based, 15 minute test.
The creators of HemaClear® saw the need for a new, different kind of tourniquet, one
that would be simple, safe, sterile, and more cost-effective than any device on the market
today. So they had a vision, and realized it.
HemaClear® is the first and only single-use device that exsanguinates, occludes, and
provides a clearer surgical field. Beginning with a sterile field allows surgeons to place
the device closer to the site than ever before. Its narrower size provides a larger, dryer,
and clearer surgical field, for a better view of anatomical structures. Instant, on-the-spot
sterility, and greater access to the surgical site assures a safer, more successful surgical
outcome. Its innovative technology not only reduces blood loss, infection, and the volume
of ischemic tissue, it’s simplicity saves precious OR set-up time as much as fifteen minutes
and over 100 separate steps that can add as much as $300 to every procedure. In fact,
HemaClear® is so revolutionary, it represents the single greatest advance in tourniquet
technology since the Esmarch bandage.
HemaClear® has been proven worldwide in over 150,000 surgical cases from the OR to
disaster-struck areas all around the world. (The recent earthquake in Haiti).
Technology and Product(s)
HemaClear is designed to create a bloodless field for limb surgery, quickly and effectively
without wasting precious time and materials. In the center of the device, a specially
engineered silicone ring exerts just enough circumferential pressure as it rolls up the limb
to exsanguinate completely and occlude the blood vessels - without damaging soft tissue
and nerves.
Factory calibrated and pre-set, HemaClear delivers uniform and reproducible results. Full
range of sizes to accommodate almost every patient type, from pediatric to obese (limb
circumference of 14 to 90 cm).
www.tav-tech.com.
Technology and Product(s)
Jet aviation engineering is being used by TavTech to meet the needs of the rapidly
expanding aesthetic, skin care and wound management markets. TavTech's patented
technology creates two-phase jet of micro-droplets consisting of saline solution and gas
(air or medical gas) that is accelerated to velocities that reach 200m/sec., providing a
versatile and precise means for performing a wide variety of skin treatments.
The pressure created by the high-velocity jet stretches the skin at the point of contact,
causing "barophoresis" due to pressure variance; the skin in the high- pressure zone
forms a concave surface and micro-canals in the outer layer of the skin broaden as the
skin stretches and new canals are created. This process facilitates hydration, cleansing and
purifying of the treated area, opens access to the skin's inner layers, allowing for deeper
penetration, and the introduction of vitamins, anti-aging and other solutions.
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) offers patients significant advantages: less pain, fewer
complications, shorter recovery time and smaller scars. However, this notable advance in
medical procedure is often compromised by the disadvantages of manual organ retraction
– an additional port for the grasper and an additional instrument cluttering the operation
site.
EndoGrab - is a groundbreaking internal retractor which is introduced into the abdominal
cavity using a proprietary Applier to expose the operating site by internally anchoring the
organ to the abdomen. After anchoring the organ the Applier is removed, allowing the
port to be re-used for other purposes. During surgery EndoGrab keeps the organ safely
retracted until it can be repositioning or removed once the procedure is completed.
EndoLift – is a groundbreaking internal retractor that lifts the liver and anchors it to
the abdominal wall to expose the underlying organs. EndoLift is hands-free, allowing
surgeons to focus on the task at hand. Furthermore, it does not require anchoring to any
external device that limits the patient’s position and adds clutter to the operating table.
Company at a Glance
Xenolith Medical Ltd is developing medical retention devices for endourologists who wish
to prevent stone migration to the kidney during ureteroscopy procedures. The use of
Xenolith Medical’s devices will minimize procedure invasiveness, lower its risk to the patient
and shorten procedure time. Using innovative concepts, our products will replace current
safety guide wires, stone-retrieval baskets and other stone fragment retrieval devices,
thus simplifying the ureteroscopic procedure and reducing overall procedure costs.
The first device that is being developed by Xenolith Medical, will change the therapeutic
approach for ureteroscopy, allowing endourologists to perform procedures much easier
and faster than the ones performed today.
Technology & Product(s)
The unique approach developed by Xenolith Medical incorporates a very thin and flexible
mesh structure as an integral part of a guidewire. The mesh is collapsed into an overlay
tube that forms part of this guide wire and allows it to maintain a very slim (less than
1mm) profile. Xenolith Medical’s device also has a flexible floppy tip that can be advanced
past urethral stones. Much like a guidewire, Xenolith Medical’s device can be used either
side-by-side to the ureteroscope or introduced through its working channel. Upon ureter
introduction the device is advanced beyond the occluding stone until reaches the kidney
so the mesh is positioned proximal to the stone (i.e. between the stone and the kidney).
Once properly positioned, the overlay tube that retracts the mesh is withdrawn, allowing
the mesh to deploy and self-expand. The mesh can self-expand up to 12mm in diameter,
fitting to all ureter sizes and shapes applying a carefully pre-calibrated radial force to
the ureter wall. The fully deployed mesh acts as a barrier to particles larger than 1mm
preventing their migration to the kidney and allowing enhanced irrigation for both better
visualization and faster lithotripsy due to stone migration prevention.
