The Astounding History of the Holy Temple
There have been two holy temples in Jerusalem, each sitting upon the high Temple Mount. King Solomon built the first, the most beautiful edifice on earth in
its day. But Solomon gave it more than just beauty. Jim Weiss will show you how a building could demonstrate Solomon’s famous wisdom and kindness. The
second temple, built a thousand years later, was that to which Jesus came to pray. Built by a murderer, destroyed by a man who did all he could to save it, this
temple sat at the crossroads of the Roman, Jewish and early Christian worlds. Hear the strange story of how it came to be, learn its role for Judaism, hear the
dramatic story of its fall at the hands of a future Roman emperor, learn about what remains of it, and understand how its destruction changed Christianity, Judaism
and Islam forever. Jim Weiss brings this presentation all his storytelling skills and his ability to tell a complex story in a way that is clear and emotionally
profound. You will envision kings, prophets, wise men—and a certain boy sitting in a courtyard and astounding the wise teachers with his understanding.
Truth Project Session 2: The Divine Imprint
This session is the second of the three required sessions to qualify as a trained Truth Project Host. In this session we will view God’s design of Family and
how it reflects His own nature. We will discuss how understanding this may challenge our own thinking and practices, as well as open a dialog with our
guests regarding family choices (education) given God’s design. (Note: you must be registered for the Truth Project training to attend this session.)
The Four Deadly Errors of Teaching Writing
We’ve all suffered it at one time or another: Frustration about writing assignments. Either on the receiving end, or perhaps now on the giving end, there can
be a few distinctly discouraging aspects to teaching and being taught writing. The tough questions include: What to correct and how to give a grade? How
much help is too much? Isn’t the assignment clear enough? Why don’t students find their own errors? Learn and avoid four teaching mistakes that contribute
to this frustration: Overcorrecting, Holding Back Help, Unclear Assignments, & Over-Expectation.
How Do We Measure Success in Homeschooling?
Why aren’t your Christian neighbors homeschooling? What is the number one reason that parents do not homeschool? Their lack of confidence to believe
that they can actually do the job, or, put another way—fear of failure. Many homeschoolers in the midst of homeschooling are wondering how they will be
able to determine whether they are successful or not with their children. Mike will explain in very clear and decisive terms how you can know whether or
not you have been successful when you get to the end of your homeschool experience where it says “The End.” One way to answer the question is whether
or not our work homeschooling with our children has been in vain. The Bible gives clear and decisive direction in this area which should be very encouraging
to all of us, and hopefully give us encouragement in even the most difficult situations.
Through the Eyes of a Child
For: Parents of children of all ages. Our culture has drawn the battle line: immerse our children at any cost. While the world’s agenda may be knocking at
our door, we as parents are the gatekeepers of our homes, especially regarding media. In this session, Julie explains how the developmental age of our
children is vital in knowing the type and content of media they are able to consume and appropriately view. Julie gives practical age by age tips for parents
on how to teach their children discernment while watching TV and movies, playing video games, and while on the internet. These easy-to-implement ideas
will help you chart a course for your children’s lifelong media standards.
Does home educating your children stretch your marriage to the limit? While there is no single success formula for all marriages, there are principals
that can be applied to strengthen your relationship. Shelley will divulge the secrets to being a happy homeschool couple. The Noonans’ marriage not only
survived but thrived through 13 years of home educating their children.
Do I take the ACT or SAT I? Or Neither?
It is obvious to older homeschooling families that the standardized test is far more important to college admission than any other college credential. Which
test should the students take? How do the students prepare for each test?
Learning Styles - How Does Your Child Learn?
How does your child learn best? Is your child in constant movement? Is your child constantly humming and singing? Does your child love to do workbook
pages? Does your child hate to do workbook pages? Is your child always taking things apart or building things? Join Nada in a session which might help
you to determine your child’s learning style. When we go over these styles, you’ll see yourself falling into one of these styles and you’ll see your child
falling into a different learning style – At least that is usually a way that God stretches us! As homeschoolers, we have the blessing of being able to present
material in a style that makes it easier for our child to learn. Once you know your child’s learning style you’ll be able to take that into consideration when
buying curriculum: You can think about whether it is appropriate for your child’s learning style, not yours. It will make your job much easier as a homeschool
teacher and it will make learning fun and successful for your child.
