Booster Plan
Seems Shelved
POSSIBILITY of a radio repeater
(booster) station being
installed in Wells upon
completion of the new telephone
and telegraph line appears
very unlikely, despite
the fact that such a station
has long been promised foithe
district.
During an inspection trip
through the Cariboo a week
ago, D. C. Schubert, B.C.
Supervisor for the Govern-
•.1.11. n—III
ment Telegraph Service, said
that plans for installing a
copper line between Quesnel
and Wells had been abandoned.
"Traffic over the Wells
line has fallen off shai-ply,''
said Mr. Schubert, "and at
the present time installation
of copper does not appear to
be warranted."
A radio repeater station
was to be installed on completion
of a copper line. Such
a station was promised about
seven years ago, but the neces-sary
appropriation has never
appeared in estimates.
