On Wednesday night at the 

ball game an autographed 

softball was given to Corrie 

Tillaart by the ball players. 

Corrie will be missed. Wed. 

night ball will continue through 

the summer for all who would 

like to come. It is open to 

all in the district, so come 

on out to the school for a fun 

game of ball. 

Scouts and Cubs ended the 

year with a camp-out at Fish 

Lake. Leaders Scouts, Cubs 

and their Fathers camped 

overnight Sat. and returned 

about 5:30 p.m. on Sun. The 

fishing was good. Upon arriving 

back at Gray's it was 

decided to have a "fish fry." 

Most everyone stayed and all 

the families were invited. A 

very nice way to end the year. 

Awards Day at Lakeview 

Elementary was Wednesday 

morning, June 27. There 

were fewer parents attending 

this year. The stage set was 

designed by Mrs. Sharon 

Pease the grade 7 relief teacher, 

and built by that class. 

Mr. Don Chapman, the principal, 

was the M.C. and the 

teachers, gave out the various 

awards. During the program 

students sang a few 

songs^'arid Tarn Daniell sang 

"Trees," all aided by the 

music teacher, Mr. Burton 

Gifford on the piano. A total 

of 29 Perfect Attendance 

certificates were given out. 

Safety Patrol pins went to 

Philip, Michael and Leslie 

Spooner. Leslie received a 

2 year repeat pin and Philip 

a 3 year repeat pin. 

Sports Crests were awarded 

to 2 students in each of, 

softball, soccer, track, volleyball, 

basketball and floor 

hockey. 

The School Sports Trophy 

was presented to the "Apache" 

Team captains, Ron 

Campbell and Jackie Beaven, 

whose names are engraved on 

it.

A farewell speech was given 

by student Laura Kushniryk.

Mr. Eugene Pascuzzo officially 

ended the school year.

Fuller were awarded individual 

trophies for the "75 Mile 

Run" event. -Medallions were 

awarded to Linda Beaven and 

Yvonne Poitras for completing 

the 75 miles. Canada 

Fitness Awards arrived so 

these crests and scrolls were 

presented. "Awards of Excellence" 

were presented to 

Lana Lust, Christine Nielsen, 

James Bird, Lorri and Greg 

Ingram, and Michael Lorenz. 

Congratulations to those students 

who won the gold and silver 

crests. Bronze award 

pins were also given to many 

students.

and Cathy Miller for their 

aid to the librarian. 

Winners of the "Spelling 

Bees" held earlier in the 

school term received gifts. 

There was one for each grade.

retired and Evelyn has a job 

teaching. : 

The Lakeview cub pack had 

their last meeting of the year 

last Thursday. 

The Lakeview 4-H Commu 

nity Club members and associate 

members are to meet 

Friday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at 

Chapman's house. There will 

be -a wiener roast at the new 

4-H campsite on Dale Lake 

along with the monthly meeting.

should be honored on Mother' s 

Day, a man's mother or his 

', wife? I say the answer is 

right there, in the name ofthe 

day. It is MOTHER'S DAY, 

not Wife's Day. My daughterin-law 

seems to think otherwise. 

Henry is my only son. When 

he married I expected his wife 

to be first in his life but I 

didn't figure being ignored. I 

try not to impose on anybody. 

Although I have a married 

daughter in town, I live alone 

and thank God I don't have to 

ask them for anything. 

Two years ago our church 

auxiliary started a lovely 

custom--a Mother's Day Banquet. 

I hoped Henry would 

invite me but his wife said he 

belonged at home on Mother's 

Day. So, my daughter invited 

me. This year my daughter 

asked her brother to come 

with us to the church banquet. 

He said he'd check at home 

and see how his wife felt 

about it. Well, Ann, his wife 

called my daughter that evening 

and made it clear that on 

• Mother's Day, if a woman has 

children, her husband belongs 

with her.
