Sell and Buy
If you were to sell your home and
buy another one, what is available?
What area will you move to and
when you find something and
does it need to be remodeled too?
Remember the 3 L’s of real estate
- Location, Location, Location.
Find your location, then see if you
can find a home. In the two past
years Buyer demand for a nice
home has continued to increase
and inventory has continued to
decrease. Jump on realtor.com and
look at what options you have for
buying in the price point that works
for you. TIP: Contact your Lender
and find out how much you qualify
for if you were to buy, build or need
home-equity for a remodel project.
From personal experience, if
you are ready for something new
and are considering remodeling,
none of the homes you find
will meet your needs. Most
homes you find will need to be
remodeled. You may find a home
that has already been remodeled
which means you are buying
someone else’s equity and the spaces are probably not exactly how
you would have done them.
The remodel path starts creating spaces that are custom to you
and your home needs. It is not likely that you will find another house
that meets those custom needs. Either way you will end up with a
project on your hands. Your NARI contractor will be your best friend
as you go through your choices. Make sure you are consulting with
the professionals to help you make the best decision for you and
your lifestyle.
Build New
Maybe the right home for you is not out there and you want to build
new. Where will you build? Do you have the time for new construction?
What will it costs? And most importantly, where will you live while it is
being built? New home construction might take 9 months to 2 years
depending on many factors. The process will also be demanding on
the home owner’s time. TIP: Make sure you have the time and patience
to build a new home, especially a custom home. Consider the fact
that land options in the best areas are very limited if any at all. When
choosing a specific area with limited land options, the alternative is
to purchase of an existing home, do a tear down and then build new
construction.
Buying of a home for most of us is the biggest purchase decision
we make in our lives. Take time to make the decisions that best fit your
family and lifestyle and consult with trusted professionals to help make
your decision process a little easier.
