RESEARCH
QUESTION
Are there websites that currently exist that
match venues and bands, and also allow
the public to vote on what band they would
like to see perform from a pool? If so, what
kind of features do these websites have?
RESULTS
There are some services that match bands
and venues. Many of them are lacking
extremely in the design department, but
there are four decent looking sites I found
for these services (SplitGigs, SonicBids, Gig-
Masters, and ReverbNation). ReverbNation
is focused on helping bands find venues,
while GigMasters helps venues or people
who are having events find performers (not
all musicians, but it is a choice). SonicBids
and SplitGigs goes both ways, allowing
venues to post for events, and then letting
artists bid for them.
After my research I was not able to find a
website that allowed the public to vote on
artists who had bid on gigs, and think this
could be something that is beneficial to
everyone involved (the bands, venue owners,
and general public). From the navigation
I found from the websites I did research, it
seems the best way to format my site would
be to have venues post events they need
bands for, have bands bid on them (including
samples of their music to view/links to their
websites), then have the public vote on
who they would like to see play the most.
