Spyder-SR / Spyder-MR Air Defense Systems<br />
The SPYDER-SR/MR (Surface-to-Air Python and Derby) are quick<br />
reaction, surface-to-air missile<br />
systems capable of engaging<br />
aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and<br />
PGMs. They provided excellent<br />
protection to valuable areas, as well<br />
as first-class defense for forces<br />
located in the combat area.<br />
The SPYDER system incorporates<br />
<strong>RAFAEL</strong>'s most advanced, state-ofthe-art<br />
air-to-air missiles <strong>–</strong> the<br />
Derby, active radar (RF) missile and the Python-5, a dual band Imaging<br />
Infra Red (IIR) missile. Both missiles are the outcome of many years of<br />
research and development efforts utilizing the most modern technologies.<br />
SPYDER missiles have full commonality with the air-to-air missile<br />
version. Just recently, <strong>RAFAEL</strong> added its Toplite, day/night observation<br />
and targeting payload to the system to guarantee optimal precision<br />
guidance.<br />
Python 5 -Full Sphere Air-to-Air IR Missile<br />
Python 5 is a fifth generation air-to-air missile that provides the pilot<br />
engaging an enemy aircraft with a full sphere launch capability. The<br />
missile can be launched<br />
from very short to<br />
beyond-visual ranges<br />
with greater kill<br />
probability, excellent<br />
resistance to<br />
countermeasures,<br />
irrespective of evasive<br />
target manoeuvres or deployment of countermeasures. The Python 5 also<br />
serves as a surface-to-air missile.<br />

Derby - Beyond Visual Range Air To Air Missile<br />
<strong>RAFAEL</strong>'s Derby is a fully developed Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-toair<br />
and surface-to-air missile. The missile has an active radar seeker and<br />
is designed for both medium<br />
and short range<br />
engagements. It has a lookdown<br />
/ shoot-down capability<br />
with a Lock-On Before Launch (LOBL) mode for tight dogfights.<br />
SPICE 1000/2000 - Guidance Kit<br />
Spice guidance kit converts standard general-purpose bombs (MK-83 /<br />
MK-84) into a stand-off<br />
autonomous weapon system with<br />
high accuracy in all operational<br />
scenarios.<br />
Spice’s Automatic Target<br />
Acquisition capability uses scenematching<br />
technology that is robust<br />
to scenery changes,<br />
countermeasures and navigation<br />
and target location errors. At close-in distances, the weapon recognizes<br />
the target and correlates it to the intelligence images stored in its<br />
memory. As a result of this capability, Spice can overcome TLE (Target<br />
Location Error) and GPS jamming. The Spice mission profile can be set to<br />
a specific azimuth and dive angle to suit the selected target profile, such<br />
as a steep dive angle for target penetration.<br />
Litening - Airborne Infra-Red Navigation and Targeting Pod<br />
The Litening III is an innovative airborne infra-red targeting & navigation<br />
pod for fighter aircraft. It provides<br />
significant multi-mission<br />
capabilities. Litening III serves as an<br />
effective force multiplier, as part of<br />
an upgrade package to a wide range<br />
of aircraft. The synergy of Litening's<br />
multiple sensor array enables high<br />
confidence target selection,<br />
identification, precise strike and<br />
damage assessment. Litening III enables fighter air crews to carry out a<br />
wide range of missions, including: detection /recognition /identification<br />
and laser designation of air-to-ground and Maritime targets.<br />

RecceLite - Real Time Tactical Reconnaissance Pod<br />
The Reccelite Day/Night electro-optical reconnaissance pod is available<br />
for missions 24 hours a day to provide real-time imagery collection and<br />
data transfer via data link communications. The use of Reccelite enables<br />
the sensor-to-shooter cycle to be reduced to less than 10 minutes.<br />
Spike-ER - Tactical Precision Missile System<br />
The Spike-ER Anti Tank Guided Weapon (ATGW) is the extended longrange<br />
version of the Spike-LR<br />
missile, capable of defeating tanks<br />
and other targets at a range of up<br />
to 8 kilometers. This missile is<br />
designed for installation on land<br />
vehicles, helicopters and naval<br />
platforms. SPIKE-ER uses a day<br />
seeker or day/night seeker,<br />
tandem warhead, and retains the<br />
dual operation modes of SPIKE - Fire-and-Forget & Fire-Observe and<br />
Update. The Fire and Forget …Plus of the SPIKE-ER provides the gunner<br />
with the unique ability to:<br />
• Update or switch targets after launch<br />
• Achieve real-time intelligence and identify friends or foe<br />
• Perform battle damage assessment<br />
• Achieve extended range and pinpoint accuracy<br />
• Minimize collateral damage<br />
HeliCOAT- Helicopter Weapons and Avionics Simulator<br />
The HeliCOAT Simulator has been designed<br />
to demonstrate the advanced abilities of the<br />
HeliCOAT Weapon Suite for Combat<br />
Helicopters, which include SPIKE-ER multipurpose<br />
missiles, the Toplite observation<br />
and targeting system and the Jam-Air EW<br />
self-protection system.<br />
SkyLite B <strong>–</strong> Long Endurance Mini-UAV<br />
The SkyLite B is a mini-UAV that gathers<br />
intelligence for field and Special Forces using an<br />
electro-optic sensor. It is man-portable, enables<br />
long periods of reconnaissance and surveillance in<br />
extreme weather conditions and uses stabilized<br />
electro-optic payload. It is catapult-launched with<br />
an option for a canister-launched mode from<br />
armored vehicles, naval vessels and airborne<br />
platforms.<br />

Golden Bay <strong>–</strong> Ground Exploitation System<br />
Golden Bay is a real-time high throughput and high accuracy<br />
reconnaissance system based on an electro-optical payload and a ground<br />
exploitation station. Golden Bay minimizes<br />
the sensor-to-shooter cycle time enabling<br />
Time Critical Targeting.<br />
Golden Bay interfaces with any pod that<br />
has scan and/or observation modes by<br />
day and night. Digital images and data are<br />
transmitted on-line through a data link to<br />
the ground station. All intelligence is<br />
linked to the command & control<br />
networks. Processing is handled automatically by the ground station.<br />
The Golden Bay can create a 3D live video from a single camera! The<br />
system converts a simple video into a stereoscopic video movie. The<br />
method is based on passively acquired video images using a single<br />
moving camera and may be applied to a PC-based real time system. The<br />
stereoscopic videos resulting from the conversion are stable, smooth and<br />
enable highly detailed 3D interpretation.<br />
X-Guard - RF Fiber Optic Towed Decoy<br />
The X-Guard is designed to provide fighter<br />
aircraft protection against modern<br />
missiles. The system lures the attacking<br />
missiles away from the attacked platform<br />
by creating an attractive false target signal<br />
which diverts the homing missile from the<br />
platform. The system features Wide-band<br />
frequency coverage and a large spatial<br />
coverage. Utilizing Solid State technologies<br />
enables compact packaging while<br />
attaining high ERP with high reliability.<br />
Sky-Shield<br />
Rafael's Sky-Shield system is among the<br />
world's leading multi-purpose Support<br />
Jammer systems. The system is designed<br />
to provide a safe corridor of protection<br />
against radar threats for increased<br />
survivability of our attacking force in a<br />
hostile environment. The Sky Shield<br />
mission is to Suppress Enemy Air<br />
Defense (SEAD), enabling deep<br />
penetration into the enemy area.<br />

Solid State Multi Beam Array Transmitters (MBAT) and digital receivers<br />
enable to achieve a high performance system packed in a pod which can<br />
be integrated even on small fighters. Sky Shield is able to jam many<br />
threats, while simultaneously transmitting sophisticated jamming signals<br />
against different threats and in different directions.<br />
Jam Air - Directional Jamming System<br />
The Jam Air is an advanced electro-optic<br />
jamming system that provides high energy<br />
optical protection to a variety of combat<br />
helicopters. A dual axis remotely operated<br />
gimbal equipped with a powerful lamp<br />
delivers the required energy. The jamming<br />
system is installed on the platform in<br />
specially designated locations for best<br />
performance. The system withstands the<br />
extreme environmental conditions of the<br />
platform and performs at least a thousand jamming cycles without any<br />
service. The system protects against Surface to Air missiles with infrared<br />
seekers.<br />
Global Link- Real-time Data Processing and Distribution<br />
The Global Link System enables networking of all airborne, sensors and<br />
ground platforms and provides total<br />
visibility and connectivity. It is based on<br />
two types of <strong>RAFAEL</strong> radio systems: Data<br />
Link Radio (DLR) and Voice & Data Link<br />
Radio (VDLR). Global Link provides<br />
virtual circuit and datagram services to<br />
guarantee reliable, simultaneous, multichannel<br />
digital voice, data, imagery and<br />
video transmission. It also provides a<br />
high-bandwidth, low latency<br />
infrastructure for data, video and imagery<br />
applications, as well as multiple digital<br />
voice channels.<br />
