Spyder-SR / Spyder-MR Air Defense Systems
The SPYDER-SR/MR (Surface-to-Air Python and Derby) are quick
reaction, surface-to-air missile
systems capable of engaging
aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and
PGMs. They provided excellent
protection to valuable areas, as well
as first-class defense for forces
located in the combat area.
The SPYDER system incorporates
RAFAEL's most advanced, state-ofthe-art
air-to-air missiles – the
Derby, active radar (RF) missile and the Python-5, a dual band Imaging
Infra Red (IIR) missile. Both missiles are the outcome of many years of
research and development efforts utilizing the most modern technologies.
SPYDER missiles have full commonality with the air-to-air missile
version. Just recently, RAFAEL added its Toplite, day/night observation
and targeting payload to the system to guarantee optimal precision
guidance.
Python 5 -Full Sphere Air-to-Air IR Missile
Python 5 is a fifth generation air-to-air missile that provides the pilot
engaging an enemy aircraft with a full sphere launch capability. The
missile can be launched
from very short to
beyond-visual ranges
with greater kill
probability, excellent
resistance to
countermeasures,
irrespective of evasive
target manoeuvres or deployment of countermeasures. The Python 5 also
serves as a surface-to-air missile.

Derby - Beyond Visual Range Air To Air Missile
RAFAEL's Derby is a fully developed Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-toair
and surface-to-air missile. The missile has an active radar seeker and
is designed for both medium
and short range
engagements. It has a lookdown
/ shoot-down capability
with a Lock-On Before Launch (LOBL) mode for tight dogfights.
SPICE 1000/2000 - Guidance Kit
Spice guidance kit converts standard general-purpose bombs (MK-83 /
MK-84) into a stand-off
autonomous weapon system with
high accuracy in all operational
scenarios.
Spice’s Automatic Target
Acquisition capability uses scenematching
technology that is robust
to scenery changes,
countermeasures and navigation
and target location errors. At close-in distances, the weapon recognizes
the target and correlates it to the intelligence images stored in its
memory. As a result of this capability, Spice can overcome TLE (Target
Location Error) and GPS jamming. The Spice mission profile can be set to
a specific azimuth and dive angle to suit the selected target profile, such
as a steep dive angle for target penetration.
Litening - Airborne Infra-Red Navigation and Targeting Pod
The Litening III is an innovative airborne infra-red targeting & navigation
pod for fighter aircraft. It provides
significant multi-mission
capabilities. Litening III serves as an
effective force multiplier, as part of
an upgrade package to a wide range
of aircraft. The synergy of Litening's
multiple sensor array enables high
confidence target selection,
identification, precise strike and
damage assessment. Litening III enables fighter air crews to carry out a
wide range of missions, including: detection /recognition /identification
and laser designation of air-to-ground and Maritime targets.

RecceLite - Real Time Tactical Reconnaissance Pod
The Reccelite Day/Night electro-optical reconnaissance pod is available
for missions 24 hours a day to provide real-time imagery collection and
data transfer via data link communications. The use of Reccelite enables
the sensor-to-shooter cycle to be reduced to less than 10 minutes.
Spike-ER - Tactical Precision Missile System
The Spike-ER Anti Tank Guided Weapon (ATGW) is the extended longrange
version of the Spike-LR
missile, capable of defeating tanks
and other targets at a range of up
to 8 kilometers. This missile is
designed for installation on land
vehicles, helicopters and naval
platforms. SPIKE-ER uses a day
seeker or day/night seeker,
tandem warhead, and retains the
dual operation modes of SPIKE - Fire-and-Forget & Fire-Observe and
Update. The Fire and Forget …Plus of the SPIKE-ER provides the gunner
with the unique ability to:
• Update or switch targets after launch
• Achieve real-time intelligence and identify friends or foe
• Perform battle damage assessment
• Achieve extended range and pinpoint accuracy
• Minimize collateral damage
HeliCOAT- Helicopter Weapons and Avionics Simulator
The HeliCOAT Simulator has been designed
to demonstrate the advanced abilities of the
HeliCOAT Weapon Suite for Combat
Helicopters, which include SPIKE-ER multipurpose
missiles, the Toplite observation
and targeting system and the Jam-Air EW
self-protection system.
SkyLite B – Long Endurance Mini-UAV
The SkyLite B is a mini-UAV that gathers
intelligence for field and Special Forces using an
electro-optic sensor. It is man-portable, enables
long periods of reconnaissance and surveillance in
extreme weather conditions and uses stabilized
electro-optic payload. It is catapult-launched with
an option for a canister-launched mode from
armored vehicles, naval vessels and airborne
platforms.

Golden Bay – Ground Exploitation System
Golden Bay is a real-time high throughput and high accuracy
reconnaissance system based on an electro-optical payload and a ground
exploitation station. Golden Bay minimizes
the sensor-to-shooter cycle time enabling
Time Critical Targeting.
Golden Bay interfaces with any pod that
has scan and/or observation modes by
day and night. Digital images and data are
transmitted on-line through a data link to
the ground station. All intelligence is
linked to the command & control
networks. Processing is handled automatically by the ground station.
The Golden Bay can create a 3D live video from a single camera! The
system converts a simple video into a stereoscopic video movie. The
method is based on passively acquired video images using a single
moving camera and may be applied to a PC-based real time system. The
stereoscopic videos resulting from the conversion are stable, smooth and
enable highly detailed 3D interpretation.
X-Guard - RF Fiber Optic Towed Decoy
The X-Guard is designed to provide fighter
aircraft protection against modern
missiles. The system lures the attacking
missiles away from the attacked platform
by creating an attractive false target signal
which diverts the homing missile from the
platform. The system features Wide-band
frequency coverage and a large spatial
coverage. Utilizing Solid State technologies
enables compact packaging while
attaining high ERP with high reliability.
Sky-Shield
Rafael's Sky-Shield system is among the
world's leading multi-purpose Support
Jammer systems. The system is designed
to provide a safe corridor of protection
against radar threats for increased
survivability of our attacking force in a
hostile environment. The Sky Shield
mission is to Suppress Enemy Air
Defense (SEAD), enabling deep
penetration into the enemy area.

Solid State Multi Beam Array Transmitters (MBAT) and digital receivers
enable to achieve a high performance system packed in a pod which can
be integrated even on small fighters. Sky Shield is able to jam many
threats, while simultaneously transmitting sophisticated jamming signals
against different threats and in different directions.
Jam Air - Directional Jamming System
The Jam Air is an advanced electro-optic
jamming system that provides high energy
optical protection to a variety of combat
helicopters. A dual axis remotely operated
gimbal equipped with a powerful lamp
delivers the required energy. The jamming
system is installed on the platform in
specially designated locations for best
performance. The system withstands the
extreme environmental conditions of the
platform and performs at least a thousand jamming cycles without any
service. The system protects against Surface to Air missiles with infrared
seekers.
Global Link- Real-time Data Processing and Distribution
The Global Link System enables networking of all airborne, sensors and
ground platforms and provides total
visibility and connectivity. It is based on
two types of RAFAEL radio systems: Data
Link Radio (DLR) and Voice & Data Link
Radio (VDLR). Global Link provides
virtual circuit and datagram services to
guarantee reliable, simultaneous, multichannel
digital voice, data, imagery and
video transmission. It also provides a
high-bandwidth, low latency
infrastructure for data, video and imagery
applications, as well as multiple digital
voice channels.
