At the set, Claire Robinson greeted me with the happiest smile
and the warmest hug. Surrounded by racks of the trendiest
jeans, most beautiful tops, and coolest shoes, we sat in her
makeup room and talked about everything from chileenriched
dark chocolate to our favorite stores. Claire’s hair
and makeup people made her shine. Then, I watched for
hours as she taught the camera how to make Easy White Pizza,
Caesar Salad with Crusty Croutons, and Mini Strawberry
Mascarpone Tarts. It was incredible how much work and
effort went into an episode. I was in heaven when she
brought me the first slice of pizza right off set. Claire gave
me a beautiful card and a bag of gifts as we said our goodbyes.
On our last night in NYC, my mom and I saw the
Nutcracker Ballet, courtesy of a very generous Make-A-
Wish donor. Our seats were front and center, and I cried the
happiest tears. I realized after the ballet how absolutely
crazy that two years before, to the day, I was diagnosed with
cancer.
I have been in remission since April 2008 and live every day
wholeheartedly. Today, I attend the University of Miami and
love every minute of it. I am still a total foodie. I am so thankful
for what the Make-A-Wish Foundation has done for me. It
provided me with not only the most magical experience of
my life, but also made it clear where I want to work someday.
I feel that I am the luckiest girl in the world and hope to
someday give back to the Foundation that changed my life.
