Finished Blessing Box is a small, container covered with gold: paper, glitter, braid and ribbon. The top should be removable and preferably contain a slit for quickly inserting blessing symbols. At the end of this study, all seven blessing symbols will be stored inside the decorated box. If teacher has a talent for handcraft, teacher might design a pattern for covering identical boxes with shiny, gold paper. Other decorations may be added by students. Encourage individuality and creativity. Student Workbook contains a Blessing Box activity. B. ONE WARNING REVELATION also contains an important warning. Deliberate disobedience, or participation in forbidden activities invites God’s discipline. God’s children need to be aware of the activities that displease their heavenly Father. What then is the warning? Suggest students turn to Chapter 22 and read the warning. REVELATION 22:18, 19 I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. 1. WORDS AND PHRASES FROM TEXT a. “Add to”. God’s Word is pure just as it is written. Perfect God has given His perfect Word. Adding anything changes God’s Word and God warns against doing such a thing. How can imperfect man “add” anything of value to the perfect Word of God? b. “Take away from”. “Take away” means, “to remove”. God does not want anything
SEVEN BLESSINGS One Blessing ~ One Warning REVELATION 1:3; 22:18-19 7 removed from His Word. He wants it to remain full and complete. Every word in the original Scripture is exactly as God intended. IT IS A STRONG WARNING! “DO NOT MISREPRESENT GOD’S WORD IN ANY WAY.” 2. CHANGING GOD‟S WORD a. Changing God‟s Word reflects one of the following motives… 1) First, an honest mistake due to lack of knowledge of God’s Word. 2) Second, a spinning of God’s Word to fit pre-conceived ideas rather than studying to uncover God’s intended message. 3) Third, the worst motive is a conscious twisting of God’s Word deliberately desiring to deceive. b. Serious consequences accompany the teaching of false doctrine. Deliberately changing God’s Word is dangerous. It creates a counterfeit Doctrine (Scripture), which pleases Satan tremendously. 3. FIRST CREATURES TO CHANGE GOD‟S WORD Be familiar with GENESIS 2:16-17; 3:1-4 and thus prepared to answer questions. Turn to these verses if necessary. a. Satan. 1) The first creature guilty of changing God’s Word was a fallen angel named Satan. Satan took on the form of a serpent, approached Eve in the garden and deliberately twisted God’s Word, creating a counterfeit. This is Satan’s customary mode of operation. He is the wicked and evil enemy of God, the master counterfeiter of all time. GENESIS 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die. 2) God said Adam and Eve could eat from all the trees … except one.
