God always has a way of surprising us in
one way or another and in this instance he
did that by blessing a partnership between
a country and city church from NSW and
ACT.
Never quite knowing how a certain
event will turn out is always something
that plays on the minds of leaders when
endeavouring to organise a programme
or mission. That was initially how James
Coats, who serves with BCA at St Paul’s
Holbrook, felt. However, that feeling was
soon overcome with joy by the end of the
programme and he was thoroughly thrilled
by the outcome. Recently Holbrook Anglican
Church hosted a holiday programme for
children and young people and had a team
from St Matthew’s Anglican Church, ACT
come along and help them run it. It was a
week where many witnessed Jesus for the
first time, through the love and authenticity

these young Christians showed, and it gave
others the chance to grow and build upon
their faith.
One of the exciting aspects of the week
was the kids’ programme that took place
every morning and it was fantastic. They
got involved, were well engaged and looked
like they loved every minute of it. The way
each team member put in their “all” and
served was wonderful and you could see
their enthusiasm was driving that and each
one got really involved. You could see the
preparation was excellent and the props
they used really added to the feel of it. On
top of all that there was a jumping castle,
which was a great drawcard, and lots of
fun for the kids. One of the mothers told
another mum that her child at home was
going through family members saying
“Jesus loves you” and then finishing with
“And Jesus loves you too, mummy.” Isn’t
