Paul Pasqualoni – University of Connecticut
Paul Pasqualoni became the 28th head football coach at the University of
Connecticut on January 14, 2011. A native of Cheshire, CT., Coach Pasqualoni
has extensive coaching experience on the high school, college and professional
level and has served as a collegiate head coach for 19 seasons.
Before taking the Connecticut position, Pasqualoni had been coaching in the
National Football League as he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys staff
(2005-07 and 2010) and the Miami Dolphins (2008-09). Pasqualoni worked
with the tight ends (2005) and linebackers (2006-07) in Dallas. In 2007, the
Cowboys' defense limited opponents to 4.9 yards per play and were third in
sacks. He rejoined the Cowboys staff in 2010 and became their defensive
coordinator. He served as defensive coordinator with the Dolphins and his defense allowed just 19.8 points
per game in 2008 as the Dolphins won the AFC East Championship.
Coach Pasqualoni also served as the head coach of Syracuse from 1991-2004 and led the Orange to nine
bowl games Pasqualoni concluded his 14-year tenure as Syracuse's second-winningest coach with 107
victories. He guided his teams to four BIG EAST conference titles and had a 6-3 postseason record. His
Orange teams won 10 games in three different seasons - 1991, 1992 and 2001. Coach Pasqualoni developed
a solid contingent of professional players at Syracuse, including a string of 17 selections in the first three
rounds of the NFL Draft, as seven were first-round picks. The school produced at least two NFL draft
selections in 11 of Pasqualoni's 14 years as head coach.
A 1972 graduate of Penn State, Pasqualoni joined the football team as a walk-on and later lettered.
Pasqualoni earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education at Penn State and a master of
science in physical education and human performance at Southern Connecticut State. His first collegiate
job was as an assistant at Southern Connecticut in 1976 and was elevated to defensive coordinator in 1980.
Pasqualoni had a five-year stint from 1982-86 as the head football coach and athletic director at NCAA
Division III Western Connecticut State in Danbury, CT.
Chip Kelly – University of Oregon
In five short seasons, Chip Kelly has threatened to redefine the 116-year
history of football at the University of Oregon. It started in 2007 in his first
year as the Ducks’ offensive coordinator and has carried through his third
season as the University’s head coach. Throughout the duration has been
the emergence of a program among the nation’s elite behind the architect of
one of the most prolific offenses in the country that has transformed the
standard of college football.
No other coach in school history has guided the football team to three
consecutive undisputed conference championships - a feat surpassed only
twice in league history. And although nine coaches have accumulated more
league titles than this Manchester, N.H. native, only USC’s John Robinson succeeded in doing so as a firstyear
head coach. In the process of accumulating a 34-6 ledger in his three seasons at the helm, the twotime
conference Coach of the Year sandwiched a pair of Rose Bowl appearances around the 2011 BCS
National Championship Game.
Meteoric offenses have become synonymous with Kelly’s Oregon coaching tenure as he has led the Ducks
to their only two 12-win campaigns in school history (2010 and 2011). His teams have averaged 43.1
points, 489.4 yards of total offense and 273.1 rushing yards per game in the three seasons under his
watchful eye, surpassing 40 points in 28 of 40 games. Since becoming associated with the Oregon offense
five years ago, his teams have not ranked lower than sixth in the country in rushing, and have placed out of
the nation’s top-10 in scoring and total offense only once.
Kelly served as New Hampshire’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 1999 through 2006,
where his offenses averaged better than 400 yards of total offense in seven of his eight seasons and more
than 30 points a game in his final four years. He was named the College Assistant Coach of the Year by
the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston following the 2005 season in addition to being selected as “one of
college football’s hottest coaches” by American Football Monthly. The 1990 New Hampshire graduate
broke into the coaching ranks that same year at Columbia University, where he served as freshman
secondary and special teams coach.
Kyle Flood – Rutgers University
Kyle Flood was named the 29th head coach at the Birthplace of College
Football on January 31, 2012. Flood, has served on the Rutgers’ coaching
staff for the previous seven seasons. One constant on any coaching staff
with Flood is how successful those teams have fared. In 16 of Flood’s 17
seasons as an assistant coach, his teams finished with winning records,
including earning a National Championship at Delaware.
A highly respected figure in the coaching profession, Flood has served as
the Assistant Head Coach of the program since 2008 and has been a key
part in Rutgers’ six bowl appearances over his seven-year tenure in
Piscataway. In addition to his four years as the Assistant Head Coach,
