ART BRILES – BAYLOR UNIVERSITY<br />

While his current position as Head Coach at Baylor and being the coach of Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III have<br />

made Coach Briles a household name, his resume includes an outstanding background in the Texas high school ranks as he<br />

spent 12 seasons at Stephensville High School, winning state titles in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999. He also had great success<br />

at Hamlin High School as well as at the University of Houston where he resurrected the school’s football program, taking the<br />

Cougars to four bowl games. He has won numerous Coach of the Year awards throughout his career.<br />

BOB STOOPS - OKLAHOMA<br />

Perhaps no name is affiliated with college football success more than that of Bob Stoops, Head Football Coach at the<br />

University of Oklahoma. He has been in this position for the past 14 seasons and in the course of that time he has won more<br />

than 80% of his games and taken the Sooners to the BCS National Championship in 2000. Seventeen times in his coaching<br />

career he has been named Coach of the Year 17 times and has won 7 Big 12 titles. Known as a tireless recruiter and master<br />

big-game technician, Coach Stoops arrived in Norman after serving as the Defensive Coordinator at Florida.<br />

DANA HOLGORSEN – WEST VIRGINIA<br />

Dana Holgorsen has just completed his second season as the Head Football Coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers, having<br />

arrived in Morgantown following a stint as the Offensive Coordinator at Oklahoma State University. Coach Holgorsen’s<br />

accomplishments at every stop have been nothing short of outstanding.<br />

During his stints as offensive coordinator at<br />

Oklahoma State, Houston and Texas Tech the squads very either at the top near the top in yards gained and points scored.<br />

Coach Holgrosen was also a part of the staffs of Valdosta State and Mississippi College.<br />

JON EMBREE - COLORADO<br />

Former Buff All-American Jon Embree has returned to his alma mater and has just completed his second season in Boulder.<br />

While his current position is his first as the head coach, he has an extensive background in the field, having served for 18<br />

years as an assistant coach with the Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chief, UCLA Bruins and the Colorado University<br />

Buffaloes. Coach Embree is a graduate of Cherry Creek High School in the Denver area and also spent one season as an<br />

assistant coach at Douglas County High School in Colorado.<br />

TODD GRAHAM - ARIZONA STATE<br />

Todd Graham has just completed his first season as the Head Football Coach for the Arizona State University Sun Devils and<br />

in a very short time he has turned the program around and brought respect and competitiveness to the school’s program. The<br />

owner of an outstanding resume, Coach Graham has been successful at every stop, including Pittsburgh, Tulsa and Rice. He<br />

was a highly successful high school coach in Texas and also served as Defensive Coordinator at East Central State University<br />

and Tulsa.<br />

TROY CALHOUN – AIR FORCE ACADEMY<br />

The United States Air Force Academy hired one of its own when the named Troy Calhoun the Head Football Coach in 2007<br />

and under his guidance the Falcons returned to the national stage. Coach Calhoun has served on the staffs of Ohio, Wake<br />

Forest, the Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans. Coach Calhoun graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1989 and<br />

during his time there he was on the superintendent’s list as he achieved a grade point average over 3.0 while averaging a<br />

military performance average over 3.0 as well. His sister Callie is a 1991 graduate of the USAFA as well.<br />

RICK STEWART – FRESNO HS, CALIFORNIA<br />

Coach Stewart’s accomplishments during his coaching career at Fresno High School and previously at Porterville High School are<br />

truly outstanding. He has made a career of taking over programs that are down and turning them into state powers. He has been<br />

selected Coach of the Year twice and is known nationally for his “Gang Green” defense and his powerful offenses. His first position<br />

saw him take a 1-19 program to the playoffs the second year and his next job a 0-20 team were league champs by the second year.<br />

DARREL GORHAM – HIGHLANDS RANCH HS, COLORADO<br />

Coach Gorham has been the head football coach at Highlands Ranch High School since the fall of 2005 and in that time has taken the<br />

Falcons to the Colorado state playoffs six times. He was named the Colorado High School Coaches Association Football Coach of the<br />

Year and League Coach of the Year in 2005 when his team won the Continental League title and reached the 5A quarterfinals. Coach<br />

Gorham previously coached at Rifle High School in Colorado and won the 2004 3A state championship while there.<br />

DESERT EDGE HS BREAKOUT SESSION<br />

JOSE LUCERO – DESERT EDGE HS, ARIZONA<br />

Jose Lucero is the offensive coordinator for the highly successful Desert Edge High School Scorpions in Arizona. Coach Lucero has<br />

held this position for four seasons, having arrived from Glendale Community College and Tolleson Union High School, both in the<br />

state of Arizona.<br />

He is a graduate of Arizona State University and played collegiately at Glendale Community College and<br />

Northwestern Oklahoma State University.<br />

TRAVIS GUINEY – DESERT EDGE HS, ARIZONA<br />

Long time Arizona coach Travis Guiney is the defensive coordinator at Desert Edge High School (AZ), a position he has held for the<br />

past five seasons. Coach Guiney is a graduate of Utah State University where he earned his Bachelor Science degree in Psychology.<br />

He previously coached at Millenium High School and Kofa High School, both in Arizona. All total he has been a high school football<br />

coach for sixteen seasons. He is known for his defense’s ability to stop the other team’s best player.<br />

IAN GARDNER – DESERT EDGE HS, ARIZONA<br />

Coach Gardner has served in a number of positions at the high school level, including offensive coordinator, secondary coach, running<br />

backs coach and quarterbacks coach. He also has an extensive background as a strength coordinator. While jus completing his first<br />

season with the Desert Edge Scorpions he has coached high school football for a total of nine seasons, having served on the staffs<br />

of Moon Valley High School and Millenium High School, both in Arizona.<br />

SYRACUSE HS BREAKOUT SESSION<br />

DAYNE FAERBER – SYRACUSE HS, UTAH<br />

Coach Faerber has been the Defensive Coordinator at Syracuse High School since it opened and has built the Titan defense into one<br />

of the best in the state. He is a Utah native, graduating from Davis High School in Kaysville, where he played football and<br />

basketball. He is a graduate of Weber State University where he played football. Following a stint as a member of the staff of his<br />

high school alma mater he was named the Defensive Coordinator for Syracuse High School. While at Davis High School he was a<br />

member of the state championship team of 200. He and his wife Amber have one daughter, Aliyah.<br />

MIKE KNIGHT – SYRACUSE HS, UTAH<br />

Coach Knight has just completed his fifth season at Syracuse High School where he has helped the Titans to 32 wins in the past four<br />

seasons. A graduate of Murray High School in Utah, he was selected a team captain his senior year and then matriculated to Dixie<br />

College in St. George, Utah. He finished his football playing career at Southern Utah University, starting 22 straight games at left<br />

tackle. He was a two-time All Great West Football selection and team captain his senior year. He was an assistant at Southern Utah<br />

University prior to arriving at Syracuse High School. He and his wife Kristy have one daughter, Sophia.<br />

JARED MARTIN – SYRACUSE HS, UTAH<br />

Coach Martin has been a member of the Syracuse High School staff for the past five seasons, having arrived from Southern Utah<br />

University where he was the Offensive Coordinator and coached the quarterbacks and wide receivers. During the years of 2000-<br />

2003 he taught and coached at Murray High School in Utah, mentoring the wide receivers and secondary and serving as the<br />

Offensive Coordinator. Coach Martin also has experience at Copper Hills High School and West Jordan High School, both in Utah.<br />

He and his wife Bernie are the parents of a son, Tatum, and a daughter, Azzie.<br />

CARL JOHNSON – JENKS HS, OKLAHOMA<br />

Having just completed his twenty-second year in the coaching profession, Coach Johnson has been a part of the powerful Jenks High<br />

School football program for the past nine years, serving as the Special Teams Coordinator. Coming into the 2012 season the Trojans<br />

have won two state championships and four second place finishes during his time there. Coach Johnson has also coached in the Texas<br />

prep ranks, coaching at Clear Brook High School and Fort Bend Kempner High School as well as a stint as an assistant at the<br />

University of Houston. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin and he and his wife Gayla have three children, Jordan, Jake & Jenna.<br />

RUSS JONES – SYRACUSE H S, UTAH<br />

The only head football coach the school has ever known, Russ Jones in 2008 was named the Utah High School Coach of the Year when<br />

he led the Titans to a 10 win season and a spot in the state semi-finals. He has taken the Titans to the state playoffs the past 5<br />

seasons. Coach Jones has an extensive background, having served as a football coach at Layton High School, Davis High School,<br />

Viewmont High School and Woods Cross High School. Coach Jones has been involved in football for over 40 years and is a graduate of<br />

Southern Utah University. He enjoys spending time with his wife Sherry and his boxer ‘Deek.’<br />

GENERAL SESSION<br />

BRENT LEWIS – MOAPA VALLEY HS, NEVADA<br />

Coach Lewis has taken his team to the state championship game an astounding 7 times in his 11 year stint as a head coach, winning<br />

the title in 2007 and 2008. His teams run an unique version of the Wing-T offense that features multiple formation. He is known<br />

for his ability to use his personnel to gain an advantage and for excellence in special teams. He has been coaching football for over<br />

30 years and can best illustrate what it takes to build a successful program in a small town environment. He and his staff pride<br />

themselves in the use of technology, especially video, in preparing for an opponent.<br />

SCOTT STROHMEIER – IOWA WESTERN CC, IOWA<br />

Coach Strohmeier has been the head football coach as Iowa Western since 2008 and in that time he has made the Reivers into a<br />

national power, sending numerous players onto the next level and winning multiple championships and bowl games. A Minnesota native<br />

and graduate of The University of Minnesota-Crookston (BA) and Concordia University (MA) he played quarterback at Fergus Falls<br />

CC and at the University of Minnesota-Crookston and has coached at North Iowa Community College, Truman State University and<br />

Concordia University. He has coached 49 All-Region players, 120 Academic All-Region players and 6 Academic All-Americans.<br />

RICH WELLBROCK – DESERT EDGE HS, ARIZONA<br />

One of the most respected coaches in the state of Arizona, Rich Wellbrock has been the head football coach at Desert Edge High<br />

School since the fall of 2010, having arrived there after serving in the same position at nearby Tolleson Union High School. Coach<br />

Wellbrock has also coached at Cactus High School and was an assistant coach at Glendale CC (AZ) when the Gauchos won the national<br />

championship. He played collegiately at the University of Northern Iowa, attended Brophy Prep High School in Arizona and was born<br />

in Hays, Kansas. He and hiw wife Kristi have two children, Griffin and Maddi.<br />
