.3 Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act, Council<br />
may direct the owner of the property, the person in possession of<br />
the land or buildings, or the person responsible for the<br />
contravention to comply with the provisions of this Bylaw, by way<br />
of an Order.<br />
Council may order any person carrying out any development or<br />
doing anything in contravention of this Bylaw to:<br />
(a) immediately stop the development or use of the land, building<br />
or structure in whole or in part; or<br />
(b) take such other measures as are specified in the Order so that<br />
the development or use of the land or building is in accordance<br />
with this Bylaw; and<br />
(c) comply with the provisions of this Bylaw within the time<br />
specified by the Order.<br />
1.14 Order<br />
.1 This Order must be delivered by registered mail or be personally<br />
served to the person identified in Section 1.12.<br />
.2 Where a person fails or refuses to comply with the Order, the<br />
Enforcement Officer must take such action as is necessary to<br />
enforce the order.<br />
.3 Any costs or expenses incurred by the Village in carrying out an<br />
Order will be placed on the tax roll as an additional tax against the<br />
property concerned, and that amount will be collected in the same<br />
manner as taxes on the land.<br />
1.15 Penalties<br />
.1 Every person who violates any provision of this bylaw commits an<br />
offence and is punishable in accordance with the Offence Act.<br />
.2 Each day’s continuance of an offence under Section 1.12<br />
constitutes a new and distinct offence.<br />
SECTION 2.0: INTERPRETATION<br />
2.1 General<br />
.1 Words used in the present tense include the other tenses and<br />
derivative forms; words used in the singular include the plural and<br />
vice versa; and the word “person” includes a corporation, firm,<br />
partnership, trust, and other similar entities as well as an<br />
individual. Words have the same meaning whether they are<br />
capitalized or not.<br />
.2 The words “must” and “will” require mandatory compliance except<br />
where a variance has been granted pursuant to the Local<br />
Government Act.<br />
