Starting in n the fall of 2009, 2 the Tra ansit Coordin nating Commmittee

listings of f agency vehi icles, contact ts, and radio types to be ccollected
by SSACOG
stafff.
The updattes
occurred through the spring of 20 011 with som me of the 14 ttransit
operattors
participaating.
The
developm ment of the tr ransit asset database d associated
with thhis
report aimms
to improvve
the flow oof
informati ion between the transit op perators and the emergenncy
officials. The attachedd
list of transsit
assets is a base of plan nning for this
report. It gives g a snap sshot
of how mmany
physicaal
assets are iin
the
region an nd served as a launch poin nt for the dat tabase develoopment.
Ongoing discussions have h led to the
determina ation that theere
is a need to exercise tthe
deploymeent
of
assets to staging sites that are safe.
The deploy yment exercisse
should invvolve
the use of the
Paratrans sit Inc. dispat tching vehicle.
It should also a be exerccised
first at a tabletop levvel
to improvve
the produ uctivity of a functional/fu
f ull scale exerc cise. The usee
of the databbase
developped
for this reeport
is recomm mended to te est its ability to t pass on vi ital informatiion
to emerggency
officialls
and mobilee
transit dis spatchers. An n after action n report from m an exercisee
held in Octoober
2007 inndicated
severral
areas for improvemen nt. Some of those t recomm mendations aare
summarizzed
below.

Transit Coordinating

the database
developeed
with this report provided
direction n and design input into thhe
developmment
of the wweb
based
reporting g tool.
The tool can be used to update the
transit asse ets in the SACCOG
regionn
on a regularr
basis. It cann
also
serve as a communica ations condui it between tr ransit operatoors
who mayy
be operatingg
mobile or ffixed
dispatchin ng centers at t different loc cations and have h the needd
to share fleeet,
human reesource,
and
facility maintenance m in nformation. Without the e tool, the abiility
to proviide
real time transit asset data
to emerge ency planner rs will be slow wer and poss sibly less accuurate.
The usse
of the tooll
allows for
updating of informati ion while scre eening for er rrors throughh
more than just the singlle
transit opeerator
and review wer. All tran nsit operators s will have the
ability to vi view most of the informattion
in the
database among the participating p agencies. a Som me aspects of
the data wiill
not be viewwable
to all tto
protect privacy
if requ uired.
