consider what an antique might have
been used for in the past.
What is it? By Devin Moore
At the front of the library in the display
case this month, there were many unusual
antiques. There was a "What is it?" contest
to see who could guess the correct name of
the objects or describe how the objects are
used. Whoever had the most correct guesses
would win free admission to a GHS sporting
event. The winners were Shane Wooten and
William Robertson. When I asked Shane
how he figured out what the objects were he
replied, “I recognized a lot of the antiques
from home.”
New Face at GHS By Devin Walls
New teacher Ms. Sarah Harman has joined our Giles High School family. She grew up and went
to school in the small town of Oakwood in Buchanan County. She got her undergraduate degree at
Virginia Tech and her graduate degree at Radford University. She enjoys singing, playing the piano
and drums, writing songs, playing sports, and her favorite activity is sitting down and reading a good
book. When asked what made her become an English teacher she said, “I enjoy working with students
and making a difference, whether it’s big or small in their lives.”
