Eurail is a co-operation between 28 European railway companies to hook non-European residents up with
discounted rail travel in Europe. Over the years, 14 million travellers have used Eurail to set off on their big
adventure around Europe. Trains in Europe are reliable, fast and comfortable, whizzing you across borders
with the minimum of fuss. It can, however, get pretty pricey booking lots of individual train journeys, so it’s
much better value to get yourself one of the passes shown over the next four pages. You can’t buy Eurail
passes once you’re in Europe, so work out where you want to go, what you want to see and how long you’ve

EURAIL GLOBAL PASS
Considered the ‘golden ticket’ of European rail travel, giving
flexibility to travel pretty much anywhere in 28 countries, it’s
no surprise to see that the Eurail pass is still going strong.
If you prefer to spend a few days exploring Europe’s amazing
cities indepth rather than being constantly on the move, opt
for a ‘flexi’ pass. This gives you 5-15 days to travel within
either a 10 day or two-month period. You can ride as many
trains as you like on any given day, enjoy free or discounted
ferry travel to get you across the bits where the train doesn’t
go and change your plans as your mood takes you.
If you’d rather throw the rulebook out of the window and see
Europe as spontaneously as possible, opt for a ‘continuous’
pass which allows you to travel wherever and whenever you like
within your chosen pass duration.

EURAIL REGIONAL PASS
You should consider the handy Eurail Regional Pass if
you’ve set your heart on exploring just two countries in
greater depth. These passes work on the same principle
as the Eurail Select Pass, but please note that not every
possible combination of countries is available.
Our most popular Eurail Regional Pass is France to
Italy which allows you to cross the Alps from Northern
Europe to the Mediterranean. France can also be
partnered up with Germany, Benelux (which counts
as one ‘country’ for these purposes), Spain and
Switzerland. Another great value option is Benelux to
Germany, which allows you take in the fabulous cities
of Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Brussels plus
many more!
The Eurail Regional Pass provides you with 4, 5, 6, 8
or 10 days of travel within a two-month period, with
different durations available on each of the country
combinations. On most Regional Passes, the minimum
duration is four days.

EXPLORING BY EURAIL
Eurail is your passport for exploring pretty much anywhere in Europe, so deciding where to go can be a tough
call, but you don’t need to be on the move the whole time to get a maximum value for your hard-earned
dollars. On this page, we share just a couple of our favourite routes, including hostel accommodation and
some great sightseeing trips to show you just how affordable it is to take a rail holiday in Europe.
EURAIL ONE-COUNTRY PASSES
Available in 27 countries (but sadly not in France,
Germany or Switzerland), these small but
perfectly-formed passes give either 3, 4, 5 or 8 days
of travel within a one-month period. Some countries,
such as Italy, Spain and Romania, allow you up to
two months to complete your travel. Don’t just get a
fleeting glimpse into your chosen country, get under
its skin and see all that it has to offer with the One-
Country Pass. You may not come back with the accent,
but we’re sure you’ll start to feel like a local by the end
of your trip.

JAPAN RAIL PASS
The good news is that if you purchase a sevenday,
14-day or 21-day Japan Rail Pass, which are
specifically designed for international travellers and
can only be bought prior to arriving in Japan, the
trains can be much less expensive than you might
think. In fact, you can buy a seven-day ‘ordinary’ pass
for about the same price as a return ticket from Tokyo
to Kyoto. And it’s valid for unlimited travel across the
whole of Japan.
• Valid on all trains operated by Japan Railways,
including the Shinkansen ‘bullet’ trains, JR Limited
Express, JR Express, local trains in city/rural areas
plus affiliated bus and ferry connections
• Only available to foreign travellers visiting Japan
from abroad and travelling under the status of
‘temporary visitor’
• Voucher must be exchanged in Japan for the pass
within three months of the issue date
• Excludes travel on the Nozomi-type bullet
trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo lines, Mizuho
type trains, or super-deluxe ‘Gran Class’ on the
Hayabusa train

KOREA RAIL PASS
The Korea Rail Pass (KR Pass) is a
discounted ticket allowing unlimited rail
travel throughout South Korea over a one,
three, five, seven or ten-day consecutive
period. It is only available in second class,
however first class travel and overnight
sleeper travel is possible upon payment
of a supplement, usually half the price of
the regular fare. The pass is valid to travel
