Alzheimer’s
warning signs
There are several warning
signs that may indicate someone
is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s
Disease.
• Memory loss that is bad
enough to interfere with daily living
and that gets progressively
worse. Forgetting where the car
keys are is normal; forgetting
how to use them is not.
• Getting lost in familiar places.
Alzheimer’s patients can suddenly
forget how to get home from a
familiar place.
• Problems with language, such
as a consistent inability to remember
words or using words
inappropriately in conversation.
• Feeling overwhelmed and
making multiple errors when trying
to perform routine tasks like
reading or balancing a checkbook.
• Personality changes such as
mood swings and unexplained
agitation. This can be a sign of
depression or another health
problem but, combined with any
other symptoms, it could be an
early sign of Alzheimer’s.
Some big animals
The polar bear averages about
1100 pounds.
A grizzly bear can weigh up
to 1700 pounds. The largest of
these are Alaskan brown bears.
A walrus may weigh about
3300 pounds. It has a layer of
blubber to help keep it warm.
The northern elephant seal
can weigh 4400 pounds. It may
lose 50% of its weight during
matng season when it is too busy
to eat and molts while growing a
new coat.
