SDI I/O 1.949.442The HD/SD SDI embedder/de-embedder card is able tohandle video signals according to the SD as well as theHD standard. It can act as an eight-channel embedder,an eight-channel de-embedder, or as a combination ofthe two. Therefore, for the D21m I/O system it may actas an eight-channel audio input card, an eight-channelaudio output card, or an eight-channel input and outputcard. These three modes are determined by hardwareswitches located on the card.The SDI standard defines up to 16 audio channelstransmitted within a video signal. These 16 channelsare divided into four groups of four channels each. Theuser can select which two groups are to be embedded orde-embedded by hardware switches on the card: eithergroups 1&2, or groups 3&4. It is also possible to clearthe SDI data structure possibly present in the incomingvideo signal and to allocate the groups from scratch.The D21m SDI card hosts sampling rate convertersboth for audio inputs (de-embedding) as well as theaudio outputs (embedding). So the mixing console canrun independent of the video sync used for SDI.
