BY TECHNICAL CRITERIA AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, ENDS AN ERA<br />
OF POLITICAL NOMINATIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS<br />
PrOFESSIONALISm is the watchword<br />
now for <strong>Corinthians</strong>. The holding of any position<br />
as Director – non-remunerated – and Manager<br />
depends exclusively on technical criteria, based<br />
on expertise and professional experience of<br />
nominees, and the current holders had never<br />
had any management position at the club. We<br />
ended an era of nominations based on political<br />
criteria or personal or family affinities. That same<br />
understanding conducted us to fill the executive<br />
management positions, within an absolutely<br />
technical and qualified structure, consisting of<br />
market professionals, properly remunerated, from<br />
whom performance and goals are required.<br />
In 2008 we had plenty of difficulties and<br />
challenges to overcome. We found a debt of over<br />

R$ 100 million in the <strong>Club</strong>’s finances. The former<br />
Vice-Presidencies (now Directories) did not have<br />
any supervision and cost control. We remodeled<br />
the administrative machine to cut costs and<br />
increase revenues. With orthodoxy, we eliminated<br />
personnel overlap, cut cost-of-living allowances<br />
and structured over 100 cost centers. We surveyed<br />
all existing contracts, renegotiated, reduced values,<br />
and replaced suppliers, so as to significantly reduce<br />
current expenses and, at the same time, increase<br />
income. Now, we intend to create an electronic<br />
bidding system, via Internet, for procurement of<br />
products and services.<br />

involved the reorganization of the club in three<br />
business units: social, professional football, and
