BY TECHNICAL CRITERIA AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, ENDS AN ERA
OF POLITICAL NOMINATIONS AND ARRANGEMENTS
PrOFESSIONALISm is the watchword
now for Corinthians. The holding of any position
as Director – non-remunerated – and Manager
depends exclusively on technical criteria, based
on expertise and professional experience of
nominees, and the current holders had never
had any management position at the club. We
ended an era of nominations based on political
criteria or personal or family affinities. That same
understanding conducted us to fill the executive
management positions, within an absolutely
technical and qualified structure, consisting of
market professionals, properly remunerated, from
whom performance and goals are required.
In 2008 we had plenty of difficulties and
challenges to overcome. We found a debt of over

R$ 100 million in the Club’s finances. The former
Vice-Presidencies (now Directories) did not have
any supervision and cost control. We remodeled
the administrative machine to cut costs and
increase revenues. With orthodoxy, we eliminated
personnel overlap, cut cost-of-living allowances
and structured over 100 cost centers. We surveyed
all existing contracts, renegotiated, reduced values,
and replaced suppliers, so as to significantly reduce
current expenses and, at the same time, increase
income. Now, we intend to create an electronic
bidding system, via Internet, for procurement of
products and services.
