I spent six yearsat McGill <strong>University</strong> in Canada between January 1978 and December1983 where I studied for my Masters and doctorate degrees. InJanuary 1984 I returned to my teaching post at then Faculty <strong>of</strong><strong>Agriculture</strong> <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Dar es Salaam which later in that sameyear became the self–standing <strong>University</strong> known to date as the<strong>Sokoine</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Agriculture</strong> (SUA). While at SUA I rose throughthe ranks to the post <strong>of</strong> Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in 1994. This recognitionwas a result <strong>of</strong> contributions we made with colleagues in theRe-union <strong>of</strong> Class <strong>of</strong> <strong>1976</strong>Page 21
