It really showsthat anyone can put together a rally car come out toan event and be blown away by the amount of funyou can have.Since it was our first event we had to remove theturbo charger from our 2012 STi. We went from 305hpto 102hp! We were pretty nervous coming into theevent we would be in everyone’s way. Our goal wasto finish the race so we could work towards gettingour turbo back. We did struggle at the beginning of therace trying to understand the tulip notes and knowingwhere we needed to be. The first 4 stages of the eventwe were always playing catch up which ended upgetting some time penalties. But in the end we got thehang of it and had a great time.Name - Ryan WilcoxHometown - Broad Brook, CTI used to race motocross and snowboard at a prolevel. Unfortunately a bad street bike accident left mein the hospital for 8 months and I no longer competeon two wheels, only four wheels and a cage…How did you get started in Rally or RallyCross?Rally brings with it a rush that’s equal or greater tomotocross and I fell in love with the sport! Our firststage rally was NEFR 2012 and it didn’t happen easily.Our turbo swapped 1996 OBSTi had to be tweaked torun without the turbo so we swapped a frankensteinnon turbo back in the car and tuned it for no boost. Ourhard work paid off bringing home 3rd place and 2ndplace in the regional rallies! This season we have ourturbo back and we are running National Open class!What are your future goals? Given that I onlyhad 2 rallies under my belt before the 2013 season,this year I will be concentrating on learning the sport,finishing races, and trying to put the pressure on thebig teams!Name - Viorel DobasuHometown - West Bloomfield, MIOccupation - Manages trucking companyViorel has been a fan of rally racing for the last30 years while living in Romania. He helped friendswith rally teams at their events.After moving to the U.S. in 1994, Viorel finallyreached a moment in his life when he decided that heneeded to take the plunge and experience rally driving.In 2006, he spent time at Team O’Neil’s rallyschool and entered his first event in 2008.The following year, Viorel entered more regionalrallies starting with Sandblast and competing in100AW, STPR, and NEFR. Around1999 - I built a PGT Eagle Talon and ran it in several ralliesthrough 2004. That car ran STPR twice.Good results have come, particularly at Sno*Drift andat Lockwood Lake Divisional Pro Rally.
