Theprimary agencies using the TARSsurveillance data include USNORTHCOMin support of Customs and Border Protection(Air and Marine Operations Center andCaribbean Air and Marine OperationsCenter) and USSOUTHCOM in support ofJoint Interagency Task Force-South. Inaddition to its Counter-drug/Counter-Narcoterrorism (CD/CNT) mission, TARSsurveillance data also supports the NorthAmerican Aerospace Defense Command(NORAD) air sovereignty mission for theCONUS. 33TARS began in 1992 with funding providedby the Air Force, and the DoD is currentlyplanning to transfer the program to the DHS.The TARS budget line item number is12445F.
