We have a professional yet friendly and helpful approach We design our courses to build on existing knowledge and experience We use fully trained and experienced Tutors with practical, operational backgrounds We make training relevant to the real world We understand the problems of trying to study when working full time LEARNER-DRIVEN ONLINE LEARNING Our online learning process allows you to choose where and when you wish to study at the time and place to suit you. Each course or unit is designed to be completed part-time over a number of weeks, but flexibility is built-in allowing you to control the pace at which you complete the programme. Based on experiential learning it allows you to build on your existing knowledge to develop new skills. The Student can work into their study times periods of holiday, increased work load or other times when study may need to take a ‘back seat’ and catch up with work in their own time. You are not bound to a traditional academic calendar – we work around you and your life. STUDENT SUPPORT If a Student has an issue, query or concern with the course that is not strictly training-based, they can contact Student Support. Student Support is available Monday- Friday 8.00-17.00 and our dedicated staff are always available to help during these hours. TUTOR SUPPORT The Tutors at LLA have a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in all fields of management in the logistics and supply chain environment. Their knowledge is not simply learned from books and exams; it is from years of hands-on experience, underpinned by their own in depth training of current best-practice solutions for all aspects of the logistics and supply chain. If at any time you feel you need help or advice either on the course content or the questions being asked, please let us know. Strong Tutoring support is built into all
Logistics Learning Alliance learning programmes and Students are encouraged to contact their Tutor whenever they need advice and guidance. Tutors are available by telephone or by email during normal business hours (0900 to 1700 UK time), or outside this time by prior arrangement with the Tutor. You can contact your tutor by telephone at 44 (0) 1530 276592, Skype or by email through Student Support. THE LEARNING PROCESS The learning process incorporates our case study SCILworld. The case study is a broad but intensive exploration of a fictitious company: SCIL plc. It is a simulated but highly realistic scenario, that allows you to explore concepts and ideas in a risk-free environment. For the purposes of the study programme, learners are ‘recruited’ by SCIL plc and appointed to a position relating to their choice of qualification or skills building course. They will perform the tasks required of that role that demonstrate the necessary competence. This is learning by challenging and doing. The new ‘employee’ will receive access to our online case study and learning materials, which will contain: A virtual introductory tour of SCIL plc Access to detailed statistical and information about SCIL, Air-Flo & Bi-Flo product Access to the Centre of Excellence which will provide all relevant technical information smd learning materials enabling the learner to submit work to the required standard Access to details of all relevant legislation which may have an impact on the business THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS Work-based projects and assignments based on the case-study simulation have been created to enable Students to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge gained. The assigned, specialist Tutor is also the Student’s Assessor, who will work with the Student to provide the evidence to satisfy: All of the performance criteria All aspects of the qualification All of the knowledge requirements of the chosen learning programme
