MX-10160A Electro-Optical Systems Image Intensifier(1250 FOM) 18mm, Gen IIIThe MX-10160A Image Intensifier Tubes aredesigned for use in all night vision systems thatuse an inverting tube, such as aviator goggles,ground systems and weapon sights. Typicallyit is used in the L-3 M949 Aviator Goggle systembut can also be used in other systems needinginverted images.The MX-10160A Gen III 18-mm image intensifieris completely self-contained with an integral highvoltagepower supply. Equipped with automaticbrightness control (ABC), this power supplyprovides constant output image brightness aslight levels increase. It also provides bright-sourceprotection to guard the tube against exposureto high levels of light.These Gen III image intensifier tubes consist ofa high-efficiency GaAs photocathode bonded toa glass input window, a microchannel plate (MCP),and a P-43 phosphor screen deposited on aninverted output window.The Gen III photocathode is very sensitive tolow-resolution levels of visible and near infraredlight.
