Undine Awards Gala at Grand Casino Baden<br />

In <strong>the</strong> Spotlight<br />

Casinos <strong>Austria</strong> also enjoys a long-standing reputation as a leading event organizer. Our<br />

casinos host literally hundreds of events every year – from art exhibitions, fashion shows,<br />

cabaret performances and concerts through <strong>to</strong> conferences and charity galas. Our range<br />

of exciting gaming <strong>to</strong>urnaments also proved immensely popular with national and international<br />

guests alike in 2008, while “Casino on Tour”, our mobile casino, traveled <strong>to</strong> around<br />

400 events around <strong>the</strong> country <strong>to</strong> help raise funds for good causes.<br />

The highly-prized Undine Awards were presented <strong>to</strong> young, talented ac<strong>to</strong>rs and actresses for <strong>the</strong> fifth year in succession at a glamorous, high-profile<br />

gala ceremony in Grand Casino Baden on 25 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2008. Numerous film and TV stars attended <strong>the</strong> prestigious event, paying tribute <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> achievements<br />

of <strong>the</strong> award-winning young ac<strong>to</strong>rs as <strong>the</strong>y presented <strong>the</strong> coveted awards.<br />

“Casino Ladies’ Night” at WTA<br />

Tennis Tournament<br />

The second annual “Gastein Ladies” WTA<br />

(Women’s Tennis Association) tennis <strong>to</strong>urnament<br />

with prize monies of $175,000 was held in July<br />

2008 in Bad Gastein. The world-class starting<br />

field, including two Top 20 players, Agnes Szavay<br />

and Alize Cornet, generated huge media interest.<br />

On day three of <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>urnament, Casino Bad<br />

Gastein invited players, VIPs and sponsors <strong>to</strong><br />

a “Casino Ladies’ Night”. After s<strong>to</strong>cking up on<br />

those all-important carbohydrates at a special<br />

“Pasta Party”, <strong>the</strong> tennis ladies were treated <strong>to</strong><br />

some great gaming entertainment: with aces of<br />

a ra<strong>the</strong>r different kind calling <strong>the</strong> shots in a fun<br />

Blackjack Tournament.<br />

Bond Fever hits Bregenz<br />

Several scenes from <strong>the</strong> latest James Bond movie “Quantum of Solace”<br />

were filmed on location in Bregenz. The film’s release saw <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn once<br />

again transformed in<strong>to</strong> a film set, with Casino Bregenz playing a starring<br />

role in <strong>the</strong> main 007 party. Five gaming tables added <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> excitement and<br />

flair of <strong>the</strong> event with guests enjoying a round of Roulette, Blackjack or<br />

Poker along with a well-mixed drink – naturally shaken not stirred.<br />

Casino Graz at <strong>the</strong> Opera Redoute<br />

The atmosphere evokes memories of <strong>the</strong> glory days of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Austria</strong>n<br />

monarchy – ladies elegant in <strong>the</strong>ir glamorous evening gowns and<br />

gentlemen suitably attired in tuxedos or tailcoats. For <strong>the</strong> last ten<br />

years, <strong>the</strong> Opera House in Graz glitters with all <strong>the</strong> pomp and circumstance<br />

of this bygone age when it becomes host <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> annual<br />

Opera Redoute. In <strong>the</strong> midst of all this glamour, <strong>the</strong> Casino Graz<br />

Champagne Lounge and French Roulette table became <strong>the</strong> place <strong>to</strong><br />

be seen at <strong>the</strong> 2008 event and a welcome spot for friends of <strong>the</strong><br />

casino <strong>to</strong> ga<strong>the</strong>r and enjoy <strong>the</strong>ir good fortune until <strong>the</strong> early hours.<br />
