Foliicolous fungi <strong>of</strong> Silent ValleyColonies epiphyllous, dense, velvety, up to 3mmin diameter and cover an entire upper portion <strong>of</strong> theleaves. Hyphae straight to substraight, branchingirregular at acute angles, loosely to closely reticulate,cells 16–23x4–7 µm. Appressoria alternate, unilateraland about 20% opposite to subopposite, mostly straight,subantrorse to rarely retrorse, ovate to cylindrical,entire, rounded at the apex, 8–13x6–8 µm. Thyriotheciaclosely scattered, orbicular, up to 300µm in diameter,stellately dehisced at the centre, crenate to fimbriate atthe margin, fringed hyphae flexuous; asci few to many,globose, octosporous, up to 38µm in diam.; ascosporesoblong, brown, uniseptate, constricted at the septum,32–36x11–18 µm, wall smooth. Pycnothyria similarto thyriothecia, smaller; pycnothyriospores pyriform,apiculate, brown, 22–26x16–18 µm.Material examined: 13.xii.2003 on leaves <strong>of</strong>Elaeocarpus tectorius (Lour.)
