Her experience as a volunteer has beenlimited, and we had to remember that as we proceeded overthe weekend. However, we discovered some incredible talentthat none of the rest of us have. Susan is going to be a HUGEasset over the next two years as the chapter progresses into thefuture. Therefore, Green is good.“Green” is also the hot word or phrase used by manybusinesses and industries these days looking to lureenvironmentally conscious customers. After four years ormore of giving lip service, stepping forward and falling back,running into unexpected obstacles and circumstances, thisboard has committed itself to reducing waste and expense byturning the Chapter Newsletter into an electronic product.This issue will be the last quarterly newsletter you receive inthe mail unless you notify the board. The chapter willcontinue to mail one per year, sending it to all AMTA-ORmembers and the OBMT mailing list. All future quarterlyletters will be distributed via email and the chapter website. Itis important that you notify the National office anytime youchange your email address, as this is our only source ofcorrect information.The amount of “Green” saved by going “Green” is rathersignificant. She looks forward to seeing you inPortland Oct 19-22 for what promises to be a fantastic event.By the way, it will be at the Oregon Convention Center – thatbuilding with the GREEN glass spires. 2011 Nominations/Elections— by Tamara Felix, PhD, LMT #5352It was my great pleasure to be appointed as Nominations/Elections Co-Chair this year with Jody Green. Jody had afamily emergency in February, which left Mike Blackmoreand I working furiously at the very end to create your bestslate for election of officers and delegates. Mike and I weredelighted that all positions were filled by dedicated professionalmembers, and members present at the AMTA-OregonAnnual Convention had a full slate of officers and delegates tovote on.First Vice President elected was John Combe. Among otherthings, John is a past-President, LMT of the Year, and winnerof the 2011 Meritorious award. Mike Blackmore was John'sgreatest support during John's Presidency, and John will nowbe Mike's greatest support during his presidency. These twomen work so well together, I could not have been morepleased that John agreed to support Mike in this way. Mikeand John are also co-chairing the AMTA National Conventioncoming to Portland this October.Another Meritorious Award winner, Brandi Walton agreed tocontinue, and was re-elected as our Treasurer for anotherterm, for which I am deeply grateful. Brandi has been ourmost dedicated, steadfast, and accurate treasurer in AMTA-Oregon history, and I am more than delighted Brandi agreedto continue in this capacity.Third Vice President elected from the floor was Susan Baer. Ifyou attended AMTA-Oregon's 2010 Annual Convention, youwould have met her there as an exhibitor and creator ofThumbby. I was impressed to see Susan take her Thumbby toAMTA National Convention in Minniappolis, Minnesota,where I found her to have great enthusiasm about the future ofTreasurer’s ReportFinancial Report as of March 2011Submitted by Brandi Walton, LMT #3218, AMTA-OR TreasurerPacific Continental Bank: $22,261.59Invesco Investment Services: $29,442.21massage therapy. Susan has been an LMT for more than 20years, but just joined AMTA at National Convention in Minnesota.Since joining, she has attended all of our AMTA-Oregon meetings, and expressed a desire to help AMTA-Oregon in whatever capacity she could. I felt Susan would bea great fit with her enthusiasm and drive as Third Vice President.Please welcome Susan with your support.I brought a slate of members willing to run for Delegate to themeeting, but had only four: Judy Cole, Leslie Giese(immediate Past President), John Combe (Past President), andmyself. Mike agreed to run also so the members would havemore than four names to vote for, and at the meeting SusanBaer also agreed to run, so we had a total of six names to voteon at the meeting. The Delegate election was a little differentthis year. Members voted in favor of four Delegates. The toptwo names with the most votes were elected for a 2-year term;the next two names with the second most votes were electedfor a 1-year term; and the two names with the least votes wereelected as the two alternates.
