boards; two catches and clasps lost. On both covers ¢llets form
an outer border. On the rectangle of the upper cover two sets of
¢llets form a saltire cross, de¢ning triangles divided by further ¢llets
into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments; on the
cross are a repeated palmette stamp and a repeated rosette
stamp; in the compartments a £euron, a small square stag
stamp, and a £ower-petal stamp; at the intersections of the ¢llets
is a small £ower-petal stamp. On the lower cover ¢llets divide the
rectangle into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments,
with the rosette stamp or the small £ower-petal stamp at each
point of intersection. At the head of the upper cover is a contemporary
parchment manuscript label with the manuscript title,
and, at the tail, a printed paper label bearing theTegernsee shelfmark,‘L
36.2 o ‘; on the spine a printed paper label bearing the title.
