Services for young peopleShetland Youth Information ServiceIf you are aged 12 to 25, we can provide you with information andadvice to help you make informed life choices. We offer a daily drop-inservice where you can come and meet your friends and discuss anyissues with friendly, approachable and trained members of staff.Open 7 days a week 1pm to 5pm (8pm on Thursdays), we offer dailysessions on a wide range of subjects. You are also welcome to dropin and access the service to meet new people and have a cup of tea!We can also offer personal and individual support to you if you haveany urgent issues. This includes support to access the expertise ofother agencies and services. If you want to have a private appointmentwith us you can pop in, phone us or email any of the staff.Contact: 01595 692002OPENOpen is a Peer Education project, also run by Shetland YouthInformation Service. We have six trained young people who are nowout and about informing other young people about sexual health anddrugs.Contact: 01595 692002Shetland Youth VoiceIs the local youth forum, youth led and open to all young people aged12 – 25, allowing them the opportunity to feed into the democraticprocess at a local, national and international level. Youth Voiceprovides an opportunity for young people to be active citizens withintheir local communities.Contact: 01595 744490Young Carers ProjectA carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to familyor friends who could not manage without this help due to illness,disability, mental ill-health or a substance misuse problem. If youcare for someone in this way help is available to you. Shetland YoungCarers Group meets every two weeks at the Bruce Family Centre,Lovers Loan, Lerwick.
