Activities should be intentionally designed and implemented and teachablemoments are leveraged to promote <strong>social</strong> and <strong>emotional</strong> <strong>development</strong>.The learning goals for Social and Emotional Development focus on the need forteachers to <strong>guide</strong> children to:• Manage and express their emotions in appropriate ways• Build positive relationships with others• Recognise that everyone is unique and show respect to the people whom theyinteract with• Reflect on their choices when making decisionsThe examples in this chapter illustrate how teachers can provide opportunities forchildren to acquire knowledge, skills and dispositions of the learning goals.
