Maison Smith hosts Mont Royal’s new permanent exhibition, revealing 

the mountain’s history, scenic beauty and built heritage, along 

with its wildlife. With its vivid exhibits, old photos, historical frescos, 

artefacts, sounds, images, games and touch screens, “Mont Royal: 

A Territory to Discover” gives visitors an overview of the park before 

they set out in the field. Free.

Bioblitz 

The Bioblitz helps make everyone—particularly young 

adults and families—more aware of Montréal’s biodiversity, 

with scientists organizing recreational activities within 

a large park. 

This season, Angrignon Park will host scientists and 

other members of the community for two days of activities, 

including an inventory of the park’s biodiversity. This 

event will be an opportunity to broaden our understanding 

of efforts to protect biodiversity in Montréal’s large 

parks (inventories, control of invasive species, etc.) and 

to meet specialists (biologists, tree growers, wildlife technicians, 

botanists, etc.) who work in the field. 

Information collected over these two days will be posted 

on line and will be used to develop a park discovery walk 

associated with BioTrousse Montréal. Furthermore, an 

annual schedule of eco-citizen activities (environmental 

follow-up, green brigades, etc.) will be offered to those 

who wish to pursue their involvement and participate in a 

better understanding of urban biodiversity. 

Angrignon Farm will be closed this season.

• Installation of light traps to identify insects. 

• Inventory of small mammals.

Saturday, May 12 

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.** 

There will be multiple departures from the big tent (follow directions 

from the park’s northern entrance) during the day. Activities last about 

one hour and a naturalist will accompany each group. Groups are 

organized on site. 

The park is subdivided into different sectors for various activities: 

• Morning bird watching and identification. 

• Fyke-net pond inventories. 

• Aquatic insects. 

• Forest inventories with shingles for garter snakes. 

• Scientific seine fishing during lunch (Aliments Fontaine Santé will offer 

snacks to participants and volunteers). 

• Identification of field insects and soil fauna. 

• Identification of aquatic invertebrates. 

Scientists and scientific organizations will have booths near the big tent 

to help identify specimens.
