SuperC ListingsFile Comparison of a Sequential Data Set or Membered PDSThis type of comparison is usually the fastest because it shows you only the mostbasic information about two data sets or members. As Figure 237 shows, thisinformation includes the following for the new and old data sets or members:v Whether the data sets or members are different (DIFF) or the same (SAME),shown by asterisksv The number of bytes (N-BYTES, O-BYTES) and lines (N-LINES, O-LINES)v The hash sum values (N-HASH-SUM, O-HASH-SUM). These values are 32-bitnumeric representations of the contents of the new and old data sets,respectively. The values shown in these fields provide a general indication ofwhether two data sets on two different systems are different. If the values aredifferent, the two data sets are different. If the values are the same, the two datasets may be identical, but not necessarily.Figure 237. As theFunction Keys section of the ISPF User Interface chapter of the ISPF User’s GuideVolume I shows, the first information is the same as for a sequential/membereddata set comparison, except the totals and hash sums are separated according tomember name.
