Peterelocated in Mayerthorpe after the big fire in GreencourtMay 20, 1941, which almost destroyed the entire village.Pete started construction of his Mayerthorpe shop thesame year and opened his business.Frank Kirbyson came to work for Pete and purchasedthe shop three years later. For twenty-six years he servedthe community and surrounding areas, by shoeing horses,building sleighs and ploughs. Many a good story wastossed in by Frank for good measure. In 1969 Frank soldhis shop to Max Barney, a native son. Following his retirement,Frank devoted his time to woodworking.
