The objective ofthe program is to offer community organizations additionalassistance to develop community events orenhancements. Funding for this grant program is madepossible through automated traffic enforcement revenueand the Safe Community Initiative. WhitecourtTown Council allocated $16,738 to the following organizationswith Enhancement Grants at Monday night’smeeting:Bear Necessities of Pat Hardy $3,000.00Whitecourt Rotary Music Festival $1,000.00Whitecourt District Preschool Society $3,945.00Fallen 4 Marathon Society & ACE’s World inWhitecourt Committee $8,793.00Town Council adopted the new History ArchivalPolicy Number 72-028, which establishes proceduresregarding the collection and retention of significantcommunity events, and storing the information for futurehistorical and archival purposes. Town staff willannually collect information and photographs, whichwill be stored for future use.Town Council has adopted 19.2% as the ATCO GasFranchise Fee for 2012, as per the Franchise Revenue- 3 Year Plan. The franchise fee is paid in exchange forgiving ATCO Gas exclusive right to supply natural gasto the municipality, and compensates the municipalityfor the company’s usage of municipal right-of-ways,portions of roads and other lands owned for the gasdistribution system.The name “Woodman” was added to the Town’sApproved Available Street Name List.
