I was on the committee that secured a locationand got it approved through the city and fundraised. Attendingcity council meetings to discuss the opening <strong>of</strong> Children’s Place,the room would be full <strong>of</strong> neighbors objecting to Children’s PlaceSouth because they were “certain” that it would bring “crime anddeterioration” to the neighborhood. Eventually those initial fearswere overcome, and it is a wonderful place.Funniest JLBR Story: <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>League</strong> members’ children took apicture for The <strong>Bridge</strong>. They all dressed up in outfits for theNutcracker Suite.
