For his MD he carried out researchinto the effects of pre-operative radiotherapyon the colon and rectum, under the supervisionof Mr M Thomas at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Hewas also awarded an Enid Linder Royal College ofSurgeons Research Fellowship. Having gainedspecialist recognition, Mr Glancy undertook further sub-specialty trainingand was awarded an Ethicon Colorectal Laparoscopic Fellowship under MrU Khot at Morriston <strong>Hospital</strong> in Swansea. He then completed a Pelvic FloorFellowship under Mr P Durdey at the Bristol Royal Infirmary before taking uphis current consultant post as a colorectal surgeon with a specialist interestin laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery.Mr Glancy’s main interests are colorectal cancer, benign colorectaldisorders, advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, pelvic floor disorders(faecal incontinence and obstructed defaecation) and new treatments forhaemorrhoids. Dr Glancy currently holds the post of Consultant Colorectaland General Surgeon <strong>Cheltenham</strong> General and Gloucestershire Royal<strong>Hospital</strong>s.Dr M Vellayan, MB BS, MRCOG, PG Cert Med Ed,Consultant GynaecologistDr Madhavi Vellayan graduated from Universityof Madras, India in 1992. She trained in Obstetricsand Gynaecology in various renowned centresin Yorkshire and underwent specialisation inGynaecological Endoscopy in Jessop <strong>Hospital</strong> forWomen, Sheffield. Dr Vellayan has a wide range ofexperience and interest in women’s health issuesranging from gynaecological issues affectingchildren to period problems, subfertility, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, prolapse,urinary incontinence and menopausal symptoms. Dr Vellayan currently holdsthe post of Consultant Gynaecologist at Gloucester Royal <strong>Hospital</strong>. The clinic is rundaily and most patients can get an appointment within 48hrs.
