Parks Victoria Technical Series No. 67PPB Sanctuaries Subtidal Reef Monitoring3.4 FISHESMost fish species were very low in density, apart from one or two species in highabundances that dominated the community structure: Little Rock Whiting Neoodax balteatusand Southern Hulafish Trachinops caudimaculatus. The Southern Hulafish Trachinopscaudimaculatus was the most abundant species, but was highly variable in abundancesbetween times within sites, making it difficult to make regional comparisons in assemblagestructure. The high variability in the two dominant species contributed to the high relativevariation assemblage structure between times (Figure 3.7).
