Confluent monolayers <strong>of</strong> HUVEC were incubated for 6 h in the absence or presence <strong>of</strong> IL-<strong>33</strong><br />
(100 ng/mL) or IL-1β (200 U/mL) with or without IL-1Ra (10 µg/mL). mRNA was prepared<br />
<strong>and</strong> RealTime-PCR with primers specific for ICAM-1, VCAM-1, E-selectin <strong>and</strong> MCP-1 was<br />
performed as described in “Methods”. <strong>Adhesion</strong> molecules <strong>and</strong> MCP-1 mRNA levels were<br />
normalized according to the respective GAPDH mRNA level. Each experiment was<br />
performed in triplicates. Values are given as x-fold <strong>of</strong> control, which was set as 1 <strong>and</strong><br />
represent mean ± SD <strong>of</strong> 2 different experiments. The overall ANOVA for each tested<br />
molecule remained significant after correction for 4 comparisons.<br />
