展望2008前景一片光明。对于中国来说,奥运会将是一个千载难逢的机 

会向世人展示过去十年所取得的成就。而对于GE来说,这一年也标志着 

我们大中华区发展战略全面进入第二阶段,公司将进一步加速GE在中国 

的本地化进程,扩大GE金融服务的业务范围,并加大对绿色创想技术和 

产品的投资。 

我们将分享2008北京奥运的喜悦。作为奥林匹克全球合作伙伴,我们将全 

力支持北京基础设施,特别是绿色环保工程的开展和扩建。作为全球唯一 

指定奥林匹克场馆赞助商,GE已在奥运相关产业赢得了超过335个项目,

CEO Message 

As we begin to turn our attention towards 2008 our prospects could 

not be brighter. The 2008 Olympics promises to be a once in a 

lifetime showcase of how far the country has come in the last 10 

years. This will also mark the beginning of GE’s second stage of 

growth in China with focuses on accelerated localization efforts, 

expansion of our financial services businesses and increased 

investment in eco technology and products in China. 

We will share the excitement of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 

as a worldwide partner by supporting Beijing’s infrastructure 

expansion, especially the green initiatives. With over 335 projects 

won and the target of $500MM in Olympics related business; GE is 

the only global sponsor with content in literally each and every one 

of the Olympics sites and venues. NBC as the exclusive broadcaster 

of the US market will showcase not only the games but also China for 

the first time to millions of households in the United States. 

What does entering the second stage of growth in China really 

mean? It means that we will shift our resources, business processes 

and company focus from a company that imports its global state of 

the art technology into the country for our customers to one that 

designs, sources, manufactures and sells products in China for China. 

GE will be increasing its investment in research and development, 

sourcing and will establish new manufacturing facilities in China. We 

will also continue to expand our presence in the interior regions in 

concert with the 11th Five Year Plan. 

As China continues to open its market in the area of financial 

services, GE as the world leader in many products, will increase its 

presence in real estate, strategic equity, consumer finance, leasing 

and many other areas by providing innovative solutions to our 

customers, consumer and partners. We are already a market leader 

in aircraft leasing with over 120 commercial aircrafts in operation in 

China. We will continue to build our teams in commercial and 

consumer finance and expect the next few years to provide us with a 

solid base from which we can expand for many years to come. 

Ecomagination is our global environmental initiative and China 

promises to be not only a great market to which we provide our 

innovative and state of the art technology but also a market where 

we can develop new and lower cost application to serve our 

customers. Given the pressure on China to provide solutions in such 

critical areas as energy (with application ranging from wind turbines 

to clean coal) and in water, GE will continue to work with the 

government and our customers to provide cost effective solutions. 

Other applications such as our new generation of locomotive, GEnx 

aircraft engine and LED lighting, provide perfect examples of how we 

will continue to lead the way in environmentally friendly technology. 

While we have many exciting accomplishment and products to be 

proud of, we continue to invest and develop our most valuable asset 

of all our people. From providing attractive jobs in many areas of 

research and development to the best management training 

programs anywhere, GE will ensure we have the best people on our 

teams. We will also continue to share this valuable skill with our 

strategic partners that place a high value on working with GE.

A year after GE and China’s National Development and Reform 

Commission (NDRC) signed the memorandum of understanding 

on jointly driving green technologies in China, the two parties held 

the second Steering Committee meeting at GE’s John F. Welch 

Leadership Center at Crotonville, New York on September 14, 

2007, in conjunction with the week-long GE-NDRC Executive 

Training Program 2007. 

John Rice, GE Vice Chairman and President & CEO of GE 

Infrastructure, and Chen Deming, Executive Vice Chairman of NDRC, 

spoke highly of the partnership in their speech at the meeting, which 

was participated by more than 30 NDRC officials from the national 

and provincial levels, and GE leaders from energy, transportation, 

aviation, water, and oil & gas. 

The committee reviewed the progress of the projects that the two 

parties have worked together, particularly in transportation, aviation 

and water. Steve Bertamini, GE Vice President and Chairman & CEO of 

GE Northeast Asia and China, reinforced GE’s commitment in working 

with China to introduce more green technologies in a presentation on 

GE’s ecomagination. 

While the meeting was in session, GE Chairman & CEO Jeff Immelt 

met Chen Deming, the vice chairman of NDRC to discuss current and 

future projects in energy and transportation. Mr. Chen expressed 

appreciation to GE for its long-term commitment to China and 

encouraged GE to play a more active role in China’s economic 

development. 

The Steering Committee was set up after the signing of the GE-NDRC 

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2006 and held its first 

meeting in November 2006. According to the MOU, GE will provide 

advanced technologies and solutions to help China meet its 

environmental goals of sustainable development, resources 

conservation and ecological improvement; and the NDRC will provide 

the necessary support to facilitate adoption of related technologies 

and their localization. 

After the meeting, the GE-NDRC Executive Training Program 2007 

was held in GE Crotonville from September 14 to 21. Altogether 21

Chinese officials from the NDRC, provincial-level development and 

reform commissions of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanxi, Shaanxi, 

Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and the Economic 

Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC 

participated in the program. 

The program covered a variety of topics: GE’s development in China, 

GE’s cooperation with China, Ecomagination, EU’s legislation and 

polices on energy conservation and environmental protection, 

corporate social responsibility, training and development of 

corporate leadership and so on. A number of senior managers from 

GE and officials from the Office of Energy and Environmental 

Industries under the US Department of Commerce had given lectures 

and exchanged ideas with the Chinese participants. 

As part of the GE-NDRC Memorandum of Understanding, the 2007 

training program marks another milestone of the partnership after 

the first executive training program successfully held in 2005.

共同签署了战略合作和旨在促进高效能源利用 

的高炉煤气联合循环发电项目协议,国家倡导 

的世界先进节能减排技术开始在中国钢铁行业 

加快推进。 

高炉煤气是钢铁厂的重要排放物,利用高炉煤 

气发电,对钢铁企业解决能源消耗和提高环保 

效益具有重要意义。GE公司提供的这套9E燃汽 

蒸汽联合循环发电设备,装机容量为320兆瓦, 

年设计发电量24亿度。这套设备充分利用二次 

资源,减少高炉煤气放散,提高了能源利用 

率;相比使用蒸汽循环设备可每年减少二氧化 

碳排放大约200万吨,每吨钢节煤40公斤以上; 

同时,该机组还可提供每小时约160吨的生产用 

蒸汽。使武钢得到减排、发电、提供生产用蒸 

汽三重效益。 

GE公司的燃气蒸汽联合循环发电技术也是国家 

发改委认可和推广的绿色环保解决方案。GE能 

源集团生产的9E燃气蒸汽联合循环发电技术, 

因为其灵活的燃料处理能力,被视为最适宜高 

炉煤气这一工业气体应用的绿色技术。 

GE董事长兼首席执行官杰夫·伊梅尔特先生非 

常重视与武汉钢铁集团的合作,他表示:“中 

国掀起的绿色经济浪潮给GE公司提供了广阔的 

发展空间,通过与武钢的战略合作,GE公司期 

望“绿色创想”技术和解决方案能更有成效地

武钢总经理邓崎琳表示:“钢铁工业是国民经 

济的重要基础产业,同时也是节能减排潜力最 

大的行业之一。近年来,武钢大力发展循环经 

济,建设资源节约型、环境友好型企业,随着 

“十一五”环保节能项目的推进落实,武钢将 

进一步降低企业的能源消耗和污染物排放,实 

现节能减排目标。与GE公司建立起战略合作关 

系是将双方的合作进一步扩大、深化,是中美 

两国企业充分把握经济全球化趋势,面向未 

来,实现共同发展战略的具体实践,同时也将 

全面提高武钢在国际市场的竞争力。” 

据悉,此次武钢高炉煤气循环发电项目仅仅只 

是武钢集团与GE公司长期合作的一个开端,今 

后,双方将结成战略合作伙伴关系,GE公司将 

在能源发电、水处理、工业电气及自动化、安 

防、环保服务、钢铁采购、管理培训等多个领 

域与武钢集团展开全面合作。 

此次战略合作方之一的武钢集团是新中国成立 

后兴建的第一个特大型钢铁联合企业,是中央 

和国务院国资委直管的国有重要骨干企业。年 

产钢规模2000万吨,是中国重要的以硅钢片、 

汽车板、高性能工程结构钢为主的板材生产基 

地,在国内外钢铁行业占有重要地位和极大的 

影响力。 



GE Builds Strategic Partnership with WISCO 

GE signed agreement with Wuhan Iron 

and Steel Company (WISCO) for strategic 

partnership and blast furnace gas (BFG) 

power project on September 24, 2007. 

This marks accelerated promotion of 

advanced energy-saving and 

emission-cutting technologies in China’s 

iron and steel industry. 

BFG is a major emission of steel mills. 

Using BFG for power generation is of 

great importance to steel enterprises in 

reducing energy consumption and 

raising environmental efficiency. The set 

of 9E gas turbine combined cycle 

solution GE provides has a total installed 

capacity of 320 megawatt and will 

generate 2.4 billion KWH of electricity 

annually. By making full use of 

secondary resources and reducing 

emission of BFG, this set of equipment 

can raise the efficiency of energy 

consumption. In comparison with the 

traditional BFG boiler power generation 

system, the new system can reduce 

emission of 2 million tons of carbon 

dioxide and save at least 40 kg of coal 

for producing a ton of steel. Meanwhile, 

it can also produce 160 tons of steam 

per hour for steel production. The new 

system will bring WISCO the triple 

benefits of emission reduction, power 

generation and steam production.

GE’s gas turbine combined cycle power 

generation technology is a green 

solution recognized and advocated by 

the National Development and Reform 

Commission (NDRC). The 9E gas turbine 

combined cycle solution provided by 

GE Energy is regarded as the most 

suitable green technology for BFG 

application because of its capability of 

flexible fuel treatment. 

Jeff Immelt, GE Chairman & CEO, 

attached great importance to 

cooperation with WISCO. He said: “The 

emerging trend of green economy in 

China provides a great opportunity for 

GE. Through the strategic partnership 

with WISCO, GE hopes that its 

‘Ecomagination’ technology and solution 

will be more effectively applied in the 

Chinese market. Meanwhile, as a longterm 

commitment to China GE will 

continue to deepen cooperation with the 

Chinese government and customers. ” 

“The steel sector is not only a pillar industry 

of the national economy but also one of the 

industries with greatest potential in energy 

conservation and emission reduction,” said 

Deng Qilin, President of WISCO. “In recent 

years, WISCO has focused on developing 

cyclic economy and building itself into a 

resources-saving and environmental- 

friendly enterprise. Along with implementation 

of energy-saving and emission-cutting 

projects during the 11th five-year period, 

WISCO will further cut energy consumption 

and pollutant discharge to meet its energy 

and environmental goals. The establishment 

of strategic partnership with GE will 

further expand and deepen bilateral 

cooperation. And it will also significantly 

sharpen WISCO’s competitive edge in the 

international market.” 

The BFG power project is seen as only 

the beginning of long-term cooperation 

between WSICO and GE. The two sides 

also signed MOU on strategic partnership 

in the areas of power generation, water 

treatment, automation, security, 

environment protection services, steel 

procurement, and management training.

GE Builds Strategic Partnership with China Life 

GE and China Life Insurance (Group) Company (“China Life”) signed a 

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Strategic Cooperation in 

Shanghai on September 24, 2007. This MOU covers bilateral cooperation 

in financial services, investment and personnel training. Both 

sides agreed that GE and China Life, two of the Global Top 500 

companies, enjoy complementarities in businesses and strategic 

cooperation between them will enable the two companies to take full 

advantage of their respective strengths to realize mutual benefit and

On October 26, 2007, GE Energy announced its purchase of Sondex Plc with $583 million in cash to 

expand its capability and expertise in oil & gas drilling and wireline technology.

technology and global relationships are important to GE Energy’s portfolio of businesses, complementing 

our existing exploration and production product line,” said Brian Palmer, Vice President of GE Energy’s

technologies as well as a management team and employees with deep understanding of their customers. 

We expect the merger will lead to the formation of a technology platform underpinning GE’s

一份为期约20年的合约式服务合同。 

GE将为华能国际电力下属的华能南京金陵发电有限公司在南京栖霞经济 

技术开发区安装的两台9FA燃气轮机提供两个大修周期的检修服务。这两 

台燃气轮机是中国燃气轮机打捆招标发电项目的一部分,在今后的约20 

年间,GE将为这两台燃机提供一系列的备件、现场检修、部件维修服务 

和相关技术支持,并且为机组的可靠稳定运行提供性能保证。通过这种合

GE Energy Signs CSA with Huaneng Nanjing Jinling 

Power Generation 

On November 23, 2007, GE Energy signed a 20-year Contractual 

Service Agreement (CSA) in Beijing with Huaneng Nanjing Jinling 

Power Generation Co., Ltd. 

GE will provide maintenance services for two overhaul repair periods 

for two 9FA gas turbines at Huaneng Nanjing Power Generation Co., 

Ltd in Nanjing Qixia Economic and Technological Development Zone. 

In the next two decades, GE will provide services ranging from spare 

parts supply, on-site maintenance, parts repair services to technical 

support for the two gas turbines, as well as guarantees for stable 

performance. This agreement has brought GE into a new partnership 

to share risks and benefits with its customer. 

“The contract covers gas turbine and generator spare parts supply, 

on-site maintenance and parts repair. It also provides service 

guarantees and technical support for the stable and reliable 

operation of Huaneng Nanjing Jinling Power Generation Co., Ltd,” 

said Xu Xin, Regional General Manager of GE Energy Services China, 

“GE Energy has demonstrated commitments to its customers with 

such contractual services. As an equipment supplier, we not only 

provide high-quality equipment but also use our technological 

advantage to offer customers a comprehensive range of services 

and solutions. We’re delighted to see that more and more customers 

in China are willing to accept contractual services of this type. 

GE will continue to promote this service model, which will benefit 

both GE and its customers.” 

Under the terms of the CSA, the Energy Services Center, jointly built 

by GE Energy and its Chinese joint venture partners, Harbin Power 

Equipment Company (HPEC) and Nanjing Turbine & Electric Machinery 

Company (NTC), will offer maintenance and on-site services for 

main parts and components. In addition, GE Liming Gas Turbine 

Component Co. Ltd, a joint venture between GE and Shenyang Liming 

Aero-Engine Group Corporation Ltd will provide some of the main 

parts and components under the CSA. 

GE Energy is the leading gas turbine supplier for the infrastructure 

project, which is a cornerstone of China’s initiative to meet its 

growing demand for cleaner, more efficient, combined-cycle power 

technology. GE has provided more than 27 F technology machines 

for China’s power projects. 

Huaneng Power International, Inc., one of the largest companies in 

China’s power generation industry, has been cooperating with GE 

Energy for more than 20 years. 

The CSA has significantly helped deepen cooperation between the 

two companies.

GE Water and CPI-YUANDA Build Strategic Partnership 

CPI-Yuanda and GE Water & Process Technologies (GE W&PT) signed 

the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic partnership 

in Beijing on October 24, 2007. By combining their mutual strengths, 

the two parties agreed on building a full-scale, strategic and 

non-exclusive cooperation partnership in the field of power plant 

recycling water treatment, the boiler water supply process, seawater 

desalinization projects, wastewater reuse and Zero Liquid Discharge 

(ZLD) process, etc. The joint effort to deepen cooperation will help 

promote sustainable development of China’s power industry in line 

with environmental protection and energy-saving policies. 

John Rice, Vice Chairman of the Board of GE, President & CEO of GE 

infrastructure, and Steve Fludder, GE Vice President & Vice President – 

Commercial of GE W&PT were present at the signing ceremony with 

Lu Qizhou, President of CPI after a friendly meeting. 

As CPI President Lu Qizhou said, the reason why CPI chose GE as the 

strategic cooperation partner, is not only because of GE’s global 

business leadership but also because GE’s water treatment 

technologies are well aligned with China’s policy to build an 

energy-saving society. Being one of the five leading power generation 

groups in this industry, CPI puts great emphasis on both the 

broad application of environmental technologies and water 

conservation and energy-saving technologies in the development 

process. GE and CPI will continue to cooperate in the field of environmental 

protection and energy conservation in accordance with 

government environmental policies. 

According to John Rice, GE’s Vice Chairman, GE and CPI have 

cooperated for a long period in the energy field and he hopes that 

this particular MOU on water treatment will be the start of wider 

cooperation between CPI and GE. The MOU will deepen common 

understanding and expand the partnership into the fields of wind 

power and nuclear power. 

As Steve Fludder mentioned, there was already close friendship 

between CPI and GE when Fludder worked for GE Energy. He appreciated 

the cooperative relationship between GE Water and CPI on 

several projects, and was willing to cooperate on more projects in the 

future. Such cooperation would provide CPI withe GE’s advanced 

technology to meet the challenges in the water treatment process. 

According to this MOU, GE Water and CPI Yuanda will cooperate in 

the electric power industry, especially with respect to water 

treatment projects for power plants within CPI. Yuanda will give 

preference to GE products, facilities and solutions. GE will provide 

relevant training in management and technology.

GE Water & Process Technologies (GE W&PT) held the groundbreaking 

ceremony for its advanced water and process manufacturing facility 

in Wuxi on October 31, 2007. Steve Bertamini, Chairman & CEO of GE 

China, Zhou Weifang, President of GE W&PT, Greater China Region, 

Ms. Liu Hongzhi, Vice Mayor of Wuxi Municipal Government, showed 

up at the ceremony and delivered speeches. 

The newly expanded facility, with a budget of $ 8.9 million, will be put 

into operation from the third quarter of 2008. The new plant covers 

an area of more than 30,000 square meters and will include a new 

manufacturing area to produce additional advanced water solutions, 

such as reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, RO machines and hollow 

fiber ultra filtration (UF) membrane systems used in potable water, 

sea water desalination and wastewater reclamation treatments and 

solutions. GE W&PT Wuxi Manufacturing Facility will enhance the 

company’s leadership in the Chinese and Asia Pacific water markets. 

On November 1, GE received the construction permit for the expansion 

project from the Wuxi new district Administrative Committee. 

That marks the official beginning of the expansion project.

GE Water Joins Hands with Tsinghua on Water Treatment 

The GE Water & Process Technologies (GE W&PT) team recently 

cooperated with two research groups led by Professor Zhu Yongfa 

and Huang Xia from Tsinghua University to develop new technologies 

for treatment of industrial wastewater polluted with non-degradable 

organic compounds. 

Both professors are well-known experts in their research areas. 

Professor Zhu Yongfa’s group will help develop advanced oxidation 

process (AOP) for degradation of organic pollutants during treatment 

of industrial wastewater. Professor Huang Xia’s group will help couple 

GE’s membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology with advanced oxidation 

technology for integrated removal of organic compounds. 

The two projects are sponsored by GE China Technology Center (CTC) 

under its “In China, For China” growth initiative. 

In the face of huge business opportunities in the water treatment 

market, the GE W&PT team at the CTC is working with its colleagues 

from GE Global Research Center (GRC) to develop new water 

technologies and facilitate their commercialization. The goal is to 

develop and implement cost-effective solutions for industrial waste-

The CHOC complements the GE Aviation Customer Support Center 

based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and supports all GE and CFM56 engine 

models. In addition to technical line and shop maintenance support, 

the CHOC also provides expanded services such as in-country 

technical and spare part AOG (aircraft on the ground) support, lease 

engine dispatch, and fleet data management, as well as enhanced 

support for smaller operators. 

The center also integrates OnPointSM Diagnostics (health monitoring) 

with the product support elements to develop proactive solutions to 

fleet issues. GE anticipates that the CHOC will cover more than 80 

percent of the China fleet with Diagnostics service, covering 11 

GE/CFM product lines, by June 2008. 

“In its first year of operation, the CHOC has been a huge benefit to

Aviation China. “Coupled with the Spare Parts Service Center in 

Beijing, the Aero Engine Maintenance Training Center in Guanghan

Each of the Technical Support Engineers (TSEs) manning the center 

has extensive aviation experience within China and has completed 

an intensive 15-week training program at the Customer Support 

Center, including immersion training and hands-on support 

experience.

services: Standard Diagnostics, which is available without charge to 

all GE and CFM engine operators and customizable Comprehensive 

Diagnostics that includes engine trend reports to assist an operator 

with its regulatory reporting and engine exceedance and fault

GE Delivered 1st Engine for ARJ21 Regional Jet 

GE delivered the first CF34-10A engine in December 2007 as China’s AVIC1 Commercial Aircraft 

Co. Ltd. (ACAC) prepares for rolling out of its first ARJ21 on December 21, 2007. The ARJ21 

regional jet aircraft test flight will take place in 2008. 

ACAC selected GE’s CF34-10A engine to power the ARJ21 in 2002. Since then, GE and ACAC 

have collaborated closely on integrating the engine into the new regional aircraft. GE provides 

the whole CF34-10A propulsion system, including the nacelle/thrust reverser and Engine 

Buildup Unit (EBU) components for the fuselage mounting. GE also sent technicians to China to 

support the pre-flight ARJ21 activities. 

The CF34-10A is a member of GE’s best-selling CF34 engine family, with about 5,000 engines 

on order or in service. By bringing reliability and durability to the regional jet aircraft, the CF34 

has been a driving force behind the rapid expansion of such regional markets worldwide. 

The CF34-10A engine, rated in the 18,000-pound thrust class for the ARJ21, represents the 

higher-thrust range of the CF34 engine family. It will meet the maximum passenger and 

payload requirements for the entire ARJ21 aircraft family, taking into account the high 

temperature and altitude characteristics of Western China. 

Another version of the CF34-10 engine entered service in 2005 and is performing with 

outstanding reliability. It is expected to reach about one million flight hours of experience when 

the ARJ21 enters service. 

ACAC, founded in September 2002, is the only Chinese aircraft company that develops civil 

aircrafts. Headquartered in Shanghai, ACAC is jointly invested by 15 investors from aviation 

industrial institutes and enterprises including China Aviation Industry Corporation 1 (AVIC1).

GE Commercial Finance Invests USD 50 Million in 

Credit Orienwise Group 

On October 16, 2007, GE and Credit Orienwise 

Group Limited (COG) announced that 

GE Commercial Finance is investing of $50 

million in COG, representing approximately 

7.8% of the total shares of COG. The move 

makes GE the fourth international strategic 

shareholder after Asia Development Bank 

(ADB), Citi Venture Capital International 

(CVCI) and the Carlyle Group (Carlyle). 

As a strategic shareholder, GE will appoint a 

director to the board of COG and some of its 

subsidiaries including China Orienwise 

Limited (COL). In addition, GE signed a 

memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 

COG on the intention to setup an equally 

owned joint venture focused initially on the 

business of international and domestic 

factoring, and expandable to other trade 

finance products, inventory financing and 

purchase order financing. The MOU includes 

an agreement by GE to provide technical 

services to COG.

GE Consumer and Industrial (GE C&I) Asia and Zhejiang Zhongqi

entered a win-win strategic cooperation that provides excellent 

business opportunities for the customers of both parties through 

localized manufacturing of hi-tech products. An inauguration 

ceremony for the joint venture GE Zhongqi Lighting System 

(Hangzhou) Co., Ltd, was held on December 8, 2007. 

Frank Zhang, General Manager of GE Lighting Asia, and Tong 

Junguo, President of Zhejiang Zhongqi Industrial, cut the ribbons and 

unveiled the signboard of the joint venture. Mr. Darryl Wilson, 

President and CEO of GE Consumer and Industrial Asia,

GE Develops Suppliers via Alibaba Network 

On December 11, 2007, GE Consumer and Industrial Greater China and Alibaba (China) 

Technology Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Hangzhou to allow GE 

develop new suppliers through the buyer’s tool of Alibaba. Both parties also agreed to 

reinforce their collaboration in Internet promotion service, construction of the Alibaba Binjiang 

Building and Data Center and leadership training. 

According to Hans Chia, General Manager of GE Consumer and Industrial Greater China 

Business Development, “Alibaba is a world leading e-business company, whose network 

platform will provide GE with more and better choices of suppliers as well as help GE promote 

its products and services to enterprises in China.”

GE照明协助台湾7-11便利店实现节能 

GE照明协助台湾最大的便利店7-11统一超商实现其照明节能计划,从 

2003年开始推行,至今已有约4600多家7-11门店采取GE的照明措施, 

实现节能20%,并大幅减少维修费用。 

台湾是7-11便利店在全球拥有店面密度最高的地区,由于奉行24小时营

GE Lighting Cuts Energy Bill for Taiwan 7-Eleven 

GE’s lighting products have helped about 4,600 stores of 7-Eleven 

President Chain Store Corp, the largest chain store in Taiwan, save 

20% of energy and substantially cut maintenance costs every year 

since 2003. 

Taiwan has the world’s highest penetration of 7-Eleven stores, 

which stay open 24 hours a day and thus have a huge demand for 

energy. 7-Eleven seeks cooperation with GE Lighting to answer the 

call for energy conservation and environmental protection. GE 

provided T5 28W high efficiency lamps for outdoor light-boxes,

which not only enhanced lighting efficiency and lengthened the life 

of lights, but also reduced maintenance costs by $450,000 a year. 

Moreover, GE provided electronic ballasts to strengthen the lighting 

stability. GE 36W light bulbs have also been adopted for inside 

lighting for all shops. 

Family Mart, the second largest chain store in Taiwan, recently 

adopted GE Lighting’s equipment too, so that GE lighting products are 

now used in 3/4 of Taiwan’s convenience stores.


GE and Baosteel Set up NDT Application Center 

On December 10, 2007, GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies celebrated the opening of its joint application center 

with Baosteel in Shanghai. 

Caroline Reda, President & CEO of GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies and Fu Zhongzhe, Director and President of 

Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, unveiled the application center inauguration plaque at the Baosteel Hotel. GE Sensing & 

Inspection Technologies China Pole Leader, Albert Wong and Vice President of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd, Zhao 

Zhouli were also present with about 20 other guests from both GE and Baosteel. 

Many GE businesses have established cooperation with Baosteel, China’s largest steel producer. As Caroline pointed 

out in her speech, Baosteel is not only a key customer, but also a supplier and a strategic partner for GE. “Through this 

new platform, I hope that GE’s advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies can deliver better productivity, 

efficiency and quality to Baosteel, and provide optimal inspection solutions to solve Baosteel’s application problems, 

and facilitate the development of GE’s technology and localization capabilities,” she said. 

Zhao Zhouli also expressed his high expectations of the newly established application center. He said, “Baosteel has 

clearly defined its strategic development plan into 2012, and its rapid growth requires stronger and more specialized 

technical support. The union of two titans will deliver win-win results, and take leadership in NDT research into the 

application field.”

GE Fanuc Lab to Set up at ZJME 

On October 27, 2007, GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms signed an agreement with Zhejiang 

Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering (ZJME) to set up the GE Fanuc automation 

system integration laboratory as part of the GE Fanuc University Cooperation Program that 

has been carried out around the world. The goal of this program in China is to bring the 

management expertise of GE as well as the advanced industrial automation technology to 

China’s technicians and help Chinese universities educate and train students on control 

systems, HMI/SCADA and production management software. 

“As the Commercial Director of GE Fanuc’s Control Systems Business in China, I am very 

excited about this automation system integration lab, which represents the beginning of a 

significant new stage in our university cooperation plan in China”, Mr. Edward Zhang said. “GE 

Fanuc will provide a set of manufacturing control equipment consisting of GE Fanuc’s 

hardware and software products to simulate the manufacturing environment. We will also 

work with the institute to integrate GE Fanuc hardware and software training materials into 

the course curriculum and develop the GE Fanuc-based continuing education offerings.” 

ZJME, an important base for training urgently needed talents in advanced manufacturing

CNBC Provides Content to Yahoo! Finance Users 

On December 17, 2007, CNBC and Yahoo! Finance, the Internet’s No.1 

financial website, announced an agreement to distribute content 

from CNBC, CNBC Europe, CNBC Asia, and CNBC.com to Yahoo! 

Finance users in the United States and worldwide. 

According to the agreement, CNBC will provide video clips from its 

global networks and articles from CNBC.com. The content will be 

available to Yahoo! Finance users in the U.S. 

(http://finance.yahoo.com), and will also be available to Yahoo!’s 21 

international financial news sites. The video clips will encompass 

commentary and analysis of the day’s top business stories, 

pre-market opening buzz, interviews, investing and stock-picking

GE Eyes on Coal & Energy New Industry 

GE attended the China International Coal & Energy New Industry 

Exposition (CICEN), held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province on September 

16-18, 2007. GE has launched a series of environment solutions to 

help China’s booming coal and coal chemical industry meet the 

challenge of improving productivity and cutting emissions. 

At the coal expo, GE’s businesses including Energy, Transportation, 

Water and Oil & Gas, displayed their total solution packages for the 

coal and coal chemical industries, such as “Clean Coal” IGCC 

technology, Jenbacher engines that use methane gas from coal 

mines to generate power, as well as advanced water membrane 

technologies that treat industrial waste water in the coal chemical 

plants. 

GE is committed to expanding cooperation with China in the development 

of advanced environmental technologies. “The world-wide calls 

for emission cuts and application of technologies that are good for 

the environment are creating new industries,” said Darryl Wilson, GE 

Vice President and head of GE Consumer & Industrial Asia, “Those 

with good vision and technology depth are better positioned in this 

industry trend. GE’s wide range of environment solutions is well

城”,以实物模拟、现场展示、海报等形式集中展示了GE以“绿色创想”

为实现既有T1/T2航站楼和新建T3航站楼之间旅客的快捷运输,北京首都 

国际机场在航站楼T3A、T3B、T3C、T1/T2之间将建设全自动无人驾驶旅 

客捷运系统(Automatic People Mover System 简称“APM”)作为运送旅 

客的主要交通设施。GE为该系统提供了视频监控系统。 

APM系统由5个APM车站和1个综合维修控制中心组成。5个APM车站分别 

是T3A、T3C、T3BH、T3BL和T1/T2。轨道线路全线约4公里。

Airport 

In order to provide a more convenient transportation system 

between terminals 1, 2 and 3, the Beijing Capital Airport 

constructed an Automatic People Mover System (APM) as the main 

transportation facility to connect with terminals T3A, T3B, T3C, T1 

and T2. GE provided a video surveillance system for the APM 

System at the Beijing Capital Airport. 

The APM system consists of five APM stations and one integrated 

maintenance control center. The five stations are T3A, T3C, T3BH, 

T3BL and T1/T2. The entire line runs a distance of 4 kilometers.

2007年8月19日,GE体育照明在“好运北京”沙滩排球测试赛中获得成

排球场地的体育照明有着非常高的要求。GE奥林匹克团队多次与北京奥组 

委、北京奥林匹克转播有限公司(BOB)、国际排联(FIVB)进行交流, 

调整了最佳方案,在特定场区采用了特定灯具,从而满足特定需要。 

GE为主赛场的四个灯塔提供了60套EF2000灯具,为两个热身场共提供60套 

GE的PowrSpot灯具,为六块训练场提供300余套GE的StarFlux灯具。 



GE Sports Lighting Shines at Beach Volleyball Test Event 

On August 19, 2007, GE sports lighting impressed athletes and 

audience in the “Good Luck Beijing” Beach Volleyball Test Event. A 

Chinese athlete told the press, “It’s the best sports lighting that puts 

us into the best shape quickly.” 

The requirements on sports lighting at the Beach volleyball venue are 

very high due to the lightness of the white sand beach, shadow 

control and broadcasting requirements. The GE Olympic team

worked closely with BOCOG, Beijing Olympic Broadcasting (BOB) and 

Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) to find solutions to 

provide special lighting fixtures in specific fields to meet these 

challenging requirements. 

GE provided 60 sets of EF2000 fixtures for four main lighting towers, 

60 sets of Powrspot fixtures in two warm up fields and 300 sets of 

StarFlux fixtures for six training fields.

GE为首都机场三号航站楼提供三级安检系统CT/X。该系统是国内首例完全复制欧洲先进的五级安检

使用后的正常工作方式与行李系统对接,每天处理几千件甚至上万件行李。

Baggage Screening System (for the Beijing Capital International 

Airport Terminal 3) under Non-operational Testing 

GE provided the Level III Baggage Check Explosive Detection Systems 

(EDS) CT/X for Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport. The 

baggage screening system is the first complete copy of the 

advanced Level V European screening system. Currently, the installation 

and debugging of the hardware has been fully completed and 

the formal non-operational testing was initiated in early September. 

Non-operational testing is a kind of system debugging lasting 3-4 

months. In this process, GE’s CT/X equipment is required to dock with 

the baggage system every day in the same manner as normal 

operation when the terminal 3 is formally put into use, processing at 

least several thousand pieces of luggage every day. 

The baggage screening system is a core part of the airport expansion 

project. CT/X provided by GE represents the world’s most 

advanced technology, and is therefore considered the top priority for 

this project. On many occasions, the leaders of the airport took the 

opportunity to express their appreciation and gratitude for the strong 

support the GE management team provided, and they commended 

the project team for the projects great success.

GE Wins Beijing Olympic 

Emergency Medical Treatment 

Project 

GE has won the Olympic emergency medical treatment contract and 

will provide all the ECGs to be used in the Beijing Olympic Games. 

Under this contract, signed on December 12, 2007, the Beijing 

Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) 

purchased 20 units of GE Mac1200 ECG equipments and leased 288 

ECG services. These products and services will be used in a total of 

170 Olympic competition events, which include the Beijing 2008 

Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, as well as the entire “Good 

Luck Beijing” Olympic test events.

Torchbearer 

Quan Hong, who is working on the GE Olympic Solutions Engineering 

team has beaten all her competitors in the intense internal GE 

Olympic Torchbearer nomination competition and final voting 

event to become a glorious GE Olympic Torchbearer. She and other 

GE Olympic torchbearers will represent GE at the torch relay of the 

Olympic Games in 2008. 

Quan Hong (Right in below picture) is a security engineer on the 

GE Olympic Solutions team who is responsible for supporting 

Stadium solutions. She has helped the team win many stadium 

projects like the National Indoor Stadium, National Convention 

Center and Fengtai Softball Field.

GE Sports Lighting Contributes to 

Modern Pentathlon Test Event 

GE Lighting solutions successfully lightened the Modern Pentathlon Test Event held at the 

Olympic Sports Center Stadium (OSS) on September 15, 2007. 

The design of the GE sports lighting satisfies not only the Olympic Games requirements but 

also that for post-games uses like soccer games and commercial performances. GE provided 

the stadium, built for the 1990 Asian Games and recently renovated, with 373 sets of GE 

EF2000 sports lighting Fixtures, 44 sets of GE EF40 spectator’s lighting fixtures and 40 sets of 

QF1500 emergency lighting fixtures.

问:您从今年7月1日起担任GE公司油气集团中 

国区总经理,您在新职位上的主要职责、工作目 

标和关注焦点是什么? 

刘波:根据任命书,我的职责是领导GE油气集团 

在中国的业务活动,为公司的未来强有力的持续 

增长而工作。可持续性增长有好几层含义:首 

先,从销售收入和订单方面来说要有持续性的增 

长;其次,在服务和项目执行上,在干部和员工 

队伍建设上,要不断进步以支持业务的发展;再 

次,要努力把我们在中国做业务所需的不同能力 

有效地建立起来。凡是在中国开展得比较成功的 

GE业务都具备独立自主的能力。 

问:油气集团目前在中国的发展情况如何?您认 

为油气集团的业务关键是什么?能否介绍一下在 

中国开展油气业务的机遇和挑战。 

刘波,GE石油天然气集团(以下简称“油气集团”)中国区总经理, 

在GE有10年的工作经历。 

刘波于1997年10月加入GE(中国),担任传播与公共关系总监。2002 

年,刘波被任命GE(中国)业务发展总经理,负责领导GE中国公司的 

业务发展队伍,协调支持GE各业务集团在中国的市场拓展、采购、企 

业并购以及客户教育活动。同时他还担任GE在华跨业务部门2008奥林 

匹克总经理,配合GE各业务部门,推动GE作为国际奥委会全球赞助商 

针对北京奥运会体育场馆和相关基础设施的营销活动。2005年12月, 

刘波被任命为GE公司北京2008奥林匹克业务总经理,负责GE公司围绕 

北京奥运在发电、供电和水处理销售、奥组委业务和政府项目。2007 

年7月起,刘波担任GE公司油气集团中国区总经理,领导GE油气集团在 

中国市场的业务开展。 

刘波毕业于上海外国语大学,获得文学学士学位,并获得美国新泽西 

州立大学工商管理硕士学位。 

GE油气集团是GE基础设施旗下的七大业务之一,是全球石油天然气工 

业关键设备的领先制造商,其产品包括用于驱动压缩机、泵和发电机 

的燃气轮机,用于炼油和石化厂、发电站的驱动设备和发电设备的蒸 

汽轮机,用于化工/石化行业的离心式压缩机,用于石油天然气生产和 

运输设备的往复式压缩机等,并提供石油天然气管线内检测、路由调 

查和完整性管理一揽子解决方案。 

刘波:2005年以前GE油气集团在中国应该说是 

非常小的,那时候还只是GE能源的一个部门,而 

如今已经扩展成为GE的一个独立业务集团,并迎 

来了快速发展。目前,油气集团在中国拥有了一 

支非常不错的销售队伍,并建立了一支优秀的商 

务方案团队以及技术方案团队,其它的组织机构 

日臻完善,赢得的项目众多。大客户包括中国石 

油天然气集团公司(“中石油”)、中国石油化 

工股份有限公司(“中石化”)、中国海洋石油 

总公司(“中海油”)和神华集团有限责任公司 

(“神华集团”)等大型企业。 

2007年9月24日,GE与武汉钢铁(集团)公司签署 

了战略伙伴与高炉煤气应用项目合作协议。这个 

项目是我们跟GE能源集团配合起来做的,油气集 

团提供大型燃料气压缩机,配套于能源集团的大 

型9E燃气轮机。11月29日, GE油气集团在北京 

与中石化签署了《战略合作协议》,GE东北亚区 

董事长兼首席执行官庞德明(Steve Bertamini) 

和中石化副总裁张克华出席了签字仪式。根据协 

议,双方在信息共享、新技术的应用、质量管 

理、设备维护以及项目执行等方面达成合作伙伴 

关系。在过去的十多年里,GE油气集团已经在十 

几个中石化的项目里安装了压缩机,包括在浙江 

镇海的100万吨乙烯项目。 

油气集团在中国获得快速发展的一个重要里程碑 

是2005年在中国的西气东输项目中成功赢标。这 

对我们来讲意义重大。从销售方面讲,当时赢得 

了价值高达约2亿美元的订单。但最重要的是, 

通过做这样一个项目,GE油气获取了在中国开展 

业务的经验。 

GE油气集团在中国市场面临的市场机遇很好。全 

球的能源需求日益增长要求石油天然气开发生产 

多多益善;而GE作为领先的油气设备提供商,同 



样迎来了良好的发展机遇。在石油天然气勘探、 

生产、储运、加工、化工、煤化工行业等方面, 

GE油气集团均能提供技术设备和解决方案。 

至于挑战,主要来自两个方面。一是日趋激烈的 

市场竞争;二是政府的政策。中国政府正推进大 

型石化装备的国产化,拟对进口石化设备设限, 

在“十一五”期间,石化装备国产化目标要达到 

75%。如何应对挑战?第一,做好日常营销工 

作,积极主动跟进客户,了解客户需求和市场动 

态,帮助客户寻求最适合他的解决方案。第二, 

我们要和客户公司探讨,建立战略伙伴关系,配 

合他来应对市场和行业的挑战;第三,就是人员 

本地化和开展业务的能力本地化,这也是GE高级 

副总裁、石油天然气集团总裁兼首席执行官克劳 

迪·圣地亚哥所倡导的。 

问: GE油气集团对未来有何规划? 

刘波:到2010年GE油气集团要达到100亿美元的 

销售收入。2007年我们做得很好。明年对油气集 

团中国团队来说,我们要力争获得中石化的川气 

东送管线和中石油的西气东输的大订单,还要重 

点关注乙烯、炼油、钢铁厂和液化天然气 

(LNG)等日常项目。我们更力争在2008年完成 

与一家东北石油天然气设备生产商之间的技术伙 

伴合资项目。同时,希望能够将我们和中石化的 

合作框架协议具体到一、二个项目上。这些目标 

都需要人来完成,最重要的是建立一支又红又专 

讲诚信的队伍,招聘最好的人才补充现有力量, 

褒贬公正,培养他们,留住他们,让他们在GE油

气集团有发展有前途。2007年新加入GE油气集 

团的员工就有20多人。我们油气集团有一个“第 

一篇章”和“第二篇章”的说法。第一篇章是创 

建优秀业务,第二篇章是塑造行业的未来,我们 

现在要做的就是将自己和员工培养成第二篇章的 

人才共同创建GE油气集团在中国的辉煌未来。 

问:12月8日您参加了第四届中国最佳企业公民 

颁奖典礼并发表演讲。此次活动广泛提及的一个 

概念就是“绿金”。对此您是怎样看的?目前所 

在的油气集团如何贯彻GE“绿色创想”理念? 

刘波:参加此次活动最令我感到高兴的是,人们 

对“企业公民”的评判标准发生了质的变化,由 

最初的“捐了多少钱、做了多少慈善活动”转变 

为对包括环保贡献在内的企业责任的综合考量, 

例如:你有没有在市场上建立自己的存在和实 

力,你雇了多少人,有多少投资,创造了多少就 

业机会,以及你对安全健康环保管理(EHS, 

Environment Health and Safety)的承诺。我个人 

非常喜欢绿金这个主题。GE提倡“绿色创想”理 

念,即“Ecomagination, Green is Green”。但这 

两个概念无论对企业还是对社会的可持续性发展 

来说,都是至关重要的。我为自己在担任奥林匹 

克业务总经理时参与绿色奥运的建设而由衷感到 

自豪。 

GE油气集团正在探讨通过具体项目来实现GE与 

国家发改委之间签署的有关绿色创想的《备忘 

录》。GE油气集团在设备和技术方面能够给千家 

万户和工业商业用户方便地使用清洁能源提供解 

决之道。我们希望和中国企业建立起技术合作伙 

伴关系,以帮助中国的油气工业加快通向绿金之 

路的步伐。 

问:您7月份从北京2008奥林匹克业务总经理调 

任油气集团中国区总经理。之前您还担任过传播 

与公共关系总监,在不一样的岗位上,您会有怎 

样不同的感受?您能否提一些与职业发展相关的 

建议? 

刘波:工作性质不同会有不同挑战,感受也会不 

一样。但是不管做什么工作,对GE的承诺是完全 

一样的性质。做工作最大的一个体会就是把今天 

的事情做好,为明天做准备。扎扎实实做好今天 

要做的事,明天自然就会很好。 

所以我觉得对每个人的职业发展来说,最重要的 

是扎实工作。你最好有明确的目标,并确保你做 

到了,在职业发展道路上树立一个又一个里程 

碑。下一步的成功将是水到渠成的事。 

问:在GE您收获最大或感触最深的是什么? 

刘波:我在GE工作已经十年,这是我在GE的第 

四份工作。我的经历验证了在GE,通过努力是可 

以实现自我价值的,GE是一个可以让你梦想成真 

的地方,最起码让我梦想成真了。GE提供学习和 

进步的机会,让你准备,并不断进步。GE给了我 

空间,可以跨业务部门和跨职能转换工作,这是

Q: You were appointed Country General

Could you give us a description on your 

new position? What are the main 

responsibilities of your role? 

Liu: My announcement said that I am to lead 

Oil & Gas activities in China and position the 

business for stronger and sustainable 

growth for the future. It means sustainable 

growth in sales and orders, improvement in 

services and project execution, and in 

development of people. It also means a 

self-sufficiency to be built for doing our 

business in China. All successful GE 

development & sales), GE China, to 

work with various GE businesses in 

China to drive growth and 

understanding of the Chinese market, 

focusing on regional enterprise selling, 

vertical industrial marketing, sourcing, 

business project development and 

customer education programs. Prior to 

his Oil & Gas appointment, Liu Bo was

Liu Bo graduated from Shanghai

Q: Could you tell us about the status quo of 

GE Oil & Gas business? What do you think 

is the key factor to its development? And 

what are the challenges and opportunities 

GE Oil & Gas is facing? 

Liu: Oil & Gas had limited presence in China 

before 2005 and was part of GE Energy. 

Today we are a stand alone business in GE 

and are experiencing fast growth. In China, 

we do better in Inquiry to Order presence, 

including Sales, Commercial Operations and 

holds an MBA degree from the 

Rutgers University. 

GE Oil & Gas is one of seven 

businesses in GE Infrastructure, a 

leading manufacturer of capital 

equipment for the global oil and gas 

industry – from drilling and completion 

to production, transportation, refining, 

processing, and petrochemicals. GE Oil 

& Gas offer a wide range of surface 

and subsea drilling and production 

systems, equipment for floating 

production platforms, compressors, 

turbines, turbo expanders and 

industrial power generation 

equipment. Its portfolio also includes 

best-practice service solutions to 

ensure that oil and gas wells and plant 

and equipment remain at peak 

performance levels, as well as pipeline 

inspection and integrity services. 

Application Engineering. Other Teams are 

being created or expanded. We have won 

lots of projects from such key customers as 

PetroChina Company Limited (PetrolChina), 

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation 

(Sinopec), China National Offshore Oil 

Corporation (CNOOC), and Shenhua Group 

Corporation Limited (Shenhua Group). 

On September 24, GE signed an agreement 

with Wuhan Iron & Steel Company (WISCO) 

of China for strategic partnership & a blast 

furnace gas application project. We worked 

through GE Energy in this BFG power 

generation project. GE Oil & Gas provided 



Fuel Gas Compressor as booster for the 9E 

Gas Turbine of GE Energy. On November 29, 

GE Oil & Gas entered into a Strategic 

Cooperation Agreement with Sinopec in 

Beijing, under which the two Parties shall 

collaborate on business best practice 

sharing, application of new technologies, 

quality management, equipment 

maintenance, and project execution. GE Oil 

& Gas has installed units at more than 10 

Sinopec projects in the last decade including 

a 1 MMTA ethylene project in Zhenhai. Steve 

Bertamini, Chairman & CEO of GE Northeast 

Asia, witnessed the signing together with 

Zhang Kehua, Vice President of Sinopec. 

A key landmark of Oil & Gas in China took 

place in 2005 when we won the West East 

Gas Pipeline Project. It meant a lot to Oil & 

Gas in terms both a $200 million contract 

and the opportunity to learn to conduct 

business in China. 

We are facing a very good market landscape 

in China. As the global energy demand 

increases, Oil & Gas companies are required 

to produce more oil & gas. This represents 

good opportunity for GE Oil & Gas, as a 

leading provider of oil & gas equipment. We 

are able to provide technology equipment 

and solutions to almost all Oil & Gas 

applications, including exploration & 

development, production, transportation, 

processing, petrochemicals as well as coal 

chemicals. 

Our challenges are from two aspects, one 

being the increasingly fierce market 

competition and the other being the 

government policies. The Chinese 

government is advocating localization of

major petrochemical equipment and plans 

to limit import of oil & gas equipment, 

targeting a 75% localization during the 11th 

Five Year Period. Then, how to cope with the 

challenges? Firstly, we ll do things well 

every day, proactively work with our 

customers to understand their needs and 

market dynamics to help them build 

know-how and explore the best solutions 

for them. Secondly, we’ll seek to establish 

strategic partnerships with our customers 

to explore best solutions to deal with their 

market and industry challenges. Thirdly, 

we’ll strive to regionalize our Teams and 

build in-country execution and project 

management capability. This is what Claudi 

Santiago, President and CEO of GE Oil & 

Gas, asks us to do. 

Q: What’s your plan for the future? 

Liu: By 2010, GE Oil & Gas will be a $10 

billion business. We are doing very well in 

2007. In 2008, Oil & Gas China will make our 

utmost efforts to win the Sinopec 

Sichuan-Shanghai Gas Pipeline Project and 

the PetroChina West-to-East Gas Pipeline 

Project. At the same time, we’ll focus on 

smaller deals including ethylene, refinery, 

steel mill and LNG (Liquefied natural gas) 

projects. In addition, we’ll target to close our 

technical partnership joint venture (JV) deal 

with an oil & gas equipment manufacturer in 

Northeast China. Hopefully we can 

materialize one or two projects under the 

Sinopec MOU framework. 

Of course, to fulfill all the goals and 

objectives, we need more best available 

people. What’s most important is to build a 

Team, with meritocracy, who delivers 

performance and are of Company values, 

especially that of integrity. We’ll hire the 

best people to add to the existing Team, 

develop and retain our talents and enable 

them to see their future of working with Oil 

& Gas. Oil & Gas has a notion called “First 

Chapter” and “Second Chapter.” “First 

Chapter” is about building a great GE 

business and “Second Chapter” is about 

shaping the future of oil & gas industry. 

What we are doing is to develop myself and 

the Team into Chapter Two talents to create 

a better Oil & Gas in China. 

Q: You attended the fourth “Best Corporate 

Citizenship Award in China 2007” awarding 

ceremony and delivered a speech on 

December 8. What’s your opinion on the 

conception of “Green is Gold” which was 

widely mentioned during the activity? And 

how does GE Oil & Gas carry out the 

conception of “Ecomagination”? 

Liu: I am delighted that people have 

changed their judgment criteria of 

“Corporate Citizenship” essentially from 

“How much did you donate? How many 

charity activities did you participate in?” to 

an integrated measurement of “Corporate 

Social Responsibility” which includes the 

contribution to environment protection. 

They now care about such questions as, 

“What presence do you have in the 

Chinese market? How many people do you 

hire? How much investment have you put 

in place? How many jobs do you create? 

What’s your commitment to EHS 

(Environment Health and Safety)?” In my 

view, I like “Green is Gold.” In GE we 

advocate “Ecomagination, Green is Green.”

问:您对中国现今的水处理行业的发展状况是 

怎么看的?GE水处理集团目前在中国的发展情 

况如何?在中国开展业务所面临的机遇和挑战 

分别是什么? 

周威方:目前中国人均拥有的淡水资源大约为 

2220吨/人,这一数字相当于整个亚洲人均拥有 

淡水资源量的1/3、全球人均量的1/4、美国人 

均量的1/5。中国的660多个城市中有大约400 

个是缺水城市,其中有100多个城市严重缺水。 

从这个数据看,中国是严重缺水的国家。缺水 

会导致什么样的后果呢?举例来说,中国工业 

每年大约有112亿美元的损失是由于缺水造成 

的。同时因为中国经济增长很快,GDP每年都 

以两位数的增长百分率在增长,对水资源的用 

量要求正越来越高。这就产生了矛盾,一方面 

中国的淡水资源匮乏,另一方面需求越来越 

大,而整个淡水资源环境正越来越遭受破坏, 

众多江河都有不同程度污染。

1999年10月,周威方加入GE,任GE水电销售经理。2002年,被提升为GE水电中国地区 

总经理。2003年,威方被提升为GE风能中国地区总经理。他实现了GE风电业务在中国

GE水处理及工艺过程处理集团由GE贝迪公司(GE Betz)、GE奥斯莫尼斯公司(GE 

Osmonics)、GE Glegg公司以及GE Lonics公司组成,还收购了泽能环保工程有限公司, 

如今是世界最大的专业水和工艺过程处理公司。集团业务几乎涵盖了工业水处理的全部 

内容,包括原水、超纯水、冷却水、锅炉水、海水淡化、污水处理及回用,真正有能力

水资源;第二,如何节约用水;第三,如何保护 

我们的水环境。我们所有的收购和技术整合都是 

为了这三件事。过去几年里我们不断地整合这支 

队伍,同时建立起中国水处理这个平台,这已经 

为GE水处理业务在中国今后的发展打下了一个非 

常好的基础,我们相信未来GE水处理在中国发展 

前景良好。 

问:刚才您提到我国淡水资源非常匮乏,我们知 

道中国西北部地区相对来说更缺水。但是这些地 

区的企业却往往实力不足,在环保投入上也面临 

困难。那么GE水处理是怎样考虑与西部企业开展 

合作的? 

周威方:西北处于中国几条主要河流的上游,对 

环境非常敏感,原则上讲环保的要求非常高,但 

由于该地区经济相对来说欠发达,因此对于节能 

环保的支撑能力不是很强。在这种情况下,我们 

在环保领域开展业务需要做好几件事情:首先, 

争取政府的支持,政府的支持是我国环境保护能 

够可持续发展的根本力量;其次,需要企业的投 

入、这里讲的企业包括两部分,一部分是指像GE 

公司这样的企业,我们要研发出成本低、性能好 

的解决方案来为用户服务,另一部分企业是指我 

们用户企业,用户企业也要建立节能环保的意 

识;只有这三个方面都做到了,环保业务才有可 

能快速地持久地发展下去,这也是接下来我们在 

西部要做的事。一方面我们在寻求政府的支持, 

另一方面我们不断地在对我们现有产品和技术进 

行优化,我们在保证或者提高其质量前提下努力 

降低成本,并跟我们的用户一起紧密地合作,使 

其认同节能环保对其企业带来的价值。

问:GE水处理有哪些技术与中国政府的“节能减 

排”战略相适应?企业采用这些技术能带来怎样 

的效益? 

周威方:GE水处理有很多产品,其中和“节能减 

排”战略相适应的技术主要有两大类。第一类是 

关于节约用水的,第二类是关于减少排放的。关 

于节水,除了农业之外,现在大型的工业领域占 

了我们国家耗水量的很大一部分。例如炼化、电 

力和冶金行业是目前中国最大的耗水行业。我们 

能够提供有效的化学药剂,让这些企业减少用水 

量,同时我们有很好的技术使产生的污水循环使 

用,这也是在帮助企业节约用水。关于环保排放 

我们有两个方面的技术,一是用于保护水环境的 

零液体排放技术;另一种是用于保护空气的粉尘 

控制系列产品,能够很好地降低空气中对人体有 

害的粉尘物质。 

对于企业来说,GE的技术能够帮助他们解决两个 

瓶颈问题,一个是水资源的短缺问题,另一个是 

污染物的排放问题。企业采用GE的技术能给他们 

带来经济和环保方面双重的利益,这样的例子很 

多。比如神华集团的煤制油项目,他们采用了我 

们零排放技术以后,每天能够回收8700吨的高品 

质水并加以循环利用,由此带来的经济价值巨 

大。同时我们的技术保证了神华集团的这个项目 

不会给黄河上游带来任何污染液体的排放,这为 

他们排除了环境污染方面的后顾之忧。 

问:今年GE被美国权威科学技术杂志《R&D》杂 

志评选为全球十家“最佳R&D公司”之一,同时还 

被选为“最成功应对人类科技挑战的公司”,那 

么GE水处理在研发方面投入的力度是怎样的呢? 

周威方:我们无论在财力、人力还是其他方面的投 

入都很大。一方面我们把现有的产品进行优化整 

合,以此更好地满足用户的要求,另一方面研发新 

产品来满足市场变化对我们提出的更高要求。 

我们在中国上海的研发中心有将近50名高级研发 

人员在专门从事水处理的研发工作。我们在GE全 

球其他的研发中心里也都有GE水处理的研发队 

伍。我们还会继续加大对研发的投入力度,在研 

发人员数量和研发经费上都会增加投入。 

问:能否简单介绍一下膜方面的技术和海水淡化 

技术及其应用前景? 

周威方:膜技术是世界前沿的水处理技术,应用在 

市政、工业等各个领域。首先是在饮用水处理上的 

应用,目前全球新的趋势就是用膜技术来净化饮用 

水。欧美已经有很多国家在用这种技术来净化饮用 

水了,中国也在慢慢地转型。膜技术第二个应用的 

领域是用来增加淡水资源的海水淡化。第三类是用 

于污水的回用,不管是市政污水还是工业污水,目 

前都在采用膜技术来回用。具体来说,就是 

超滤膜、反渗透膜以及我们的膜生物反应器 

技术(Membrane Bioreactor,简称MBR)。 

GE的海水淡化技术也是全球领先的。我们能够提 

供一个整体的海水淡化解决方案。传统的海水淡 

化技术仅仅是海水进,淡水出;而我们提供给用 

户的是海水综合利用的解决方案,也就是把整个 

海水淡化过程中一切可以利用的资源和能源都利 

用起来。比如说在把海水淡化好了以后,剩下浓 

度非常高的盐水,我们用零排放技术把浓盐水变 

成高纯度的盐,提供给化工领域。这也是GE公司 

海水淡化有别于其他公司的地方。 

当前海水淡化的成本跟目前的水价相比是偏高 

的,但我们有理由相信今后这种情况会改变。随 

着海水淡化成本的不断降低,相信海水淡化将来 

在中国会有良好发展前景,海洋有可能成为我们 

的大水库。 

问:从2006年至今,GE水处理一直保持良好的 

业绩增长,那么接下来水处理会突出哪些方面的 

发展?今后有何发展规划? 

周威方:我们突出的方面首先是确保水处理及工 

艺处理化学药剂业务的稳步发展。这一部分对我 

们的业务非常重要,这是保证整个GE水处理业务 

发展的基础。此外,我们还要重点发展几个方 

面。第一是关于饮用水,目前中国大部分的饮用 

水都是使用传统的过滤技术,随着全球对饮用水 

的要求越来越高,特别是中国今年颁布的新的饮 

用水标准以后,传统的饮用水处理技术已经很难 

达到国家的饮用水标准。我们由此认为今后中国 

的饮用水净化技术方面蕴含巨大的市场,因此采 

用膜技术来净化饮用水将是我们今后业务发展的 

一个重点。第二个重点是各种污水的回用,无论 

是市政的还是工业的污水。我们将重点发展零液 

体排放技术。第三个重点是海水淡化,我们相信 

海水淡化是一个国家增加淡水资源最快捷的方 

法,海水淡化在中国的前景非常好。中国有得天 

独厚的地理条件,海水资源丰富,要想快速增加 

水资源,海水淡化是最好的途径。 

问:您加入GE到现在已经有近8年的时间,您觉 

得在GE收获最大的是什么?在GE不同的业务部 

门工作,您有什么感受? 

周威方:我是1999年加入GE的。在过去的这么8年 

时间里,我在GE学到很多很多东西,其中让我记 

忆最深刻、感触最深的是如何在诚信的基础上发展 

我们的业务。同时在GE还学会了如何带领一个团 

队在竞争激烈的市场环境下增长我们的业务。 

在GE,即便身处不同的部门和职位,但有三件事 

情是相同的:第一,你必须永远把诚信摆在第一 

位;第二,你必须对自己的表现做出承诺;第三, 

你永远要做好准备应对市场以及公司的不断变化。 

这三条不管你处于哪个业务永远都是一样的。 

问:那您能给青年一些职业发展的建议吗? 尤其 

对有志于在GE做出一番事业的年轻人? 

周威方:GE是一个非常好的公司,特别是对有志 

于在职业上有所成就的人是个非常好的环境。他 

在GE会得到各种培训和锻炼的机会。如果说有什 

么建议的话,我觉得在GE,首先,你必须要把你 

的本职工作做好,不要想太多别的事情,要把你 

的精力放在你该做的事上,尽力把它做得完美; 

第二,你对自己的工作表现要有一个更高层次的 

要求。你的领导告诉你要做什么事,首先你一定 

要尽你最大努力把这件事情完成。如果你还能够 

站在一个更高的层次来看你的工作是不是做得尽 

善尽美了,那么你在某一天就可能准备好去做更 

高要求的工作。所以我给大家的一点点建议,不 

要每天去想你的职业规划,总想着今天做什么明 

天做什么—这不是不重要,但是更重要的是要 

把你自己现在的工作做好。

Q: What do you think of the development of 

China’s water treatment industry? What is 

about GE W&PT’s growth in China? And what 

are the opportunities and challenges? 

Zhou: Today, China’s per capital fresh water 

resources is about 2,200 cubic meters of water, 

accounting for one third of the Asia average, a 

quarter of the world average and one fifth of 

the US average. About 400 of China’s 660 plus 

cities are short of fresh water resources and 

more than 100 cities face severe water 

shortages. China is a country severely short of 


China in 2003. He engineered the 

overall expansion of GE’s wind business 

in China, built and enlarged the 

GE wind team, and grew the business 

from zero to $400 million in 2005. Zhou 

was appointed China Region Sales 

General Manager of Power Generation, 

GE Energy in November 2004, in 

charge of sales of thermal, hydro and 

wind power. Under his leadership, the 

power generation business grew 

continuously and steadily and 

reached $850 million in orders in 2005. 

Zhou was named as President of GE 

Water & Process Technologies - China 

Region in June 2006 and then 

promoted to President of the Greater 

China region in September 2007, 

expanding his supervision to cover 

China’s mainland, Hong Kong, Macao 

and Taiwan. 

GE Water & Process Technologies (GE 

W&PT) consists of GE Betz, GE Osmonics, 

GE Glegg and GE Lonics and has 

fresh water. What are the consequences of 

water shortages? For example, China’s 

industry suffers a loss of about $11.2 billion 

every year due to water shortages. As the 

economy grows rapidly, the country’s demand 

for water resources is soaring, while the overall 

fresh water resources environment is deteriorating 

and many rivers have been polluted in 

varying degrees. 

Such as situation creates both a good 

opportunity and a big challenge for us. GE 

spent altogether $4 billion on acquiring five 

also acquired Zenon Environmental. It 

is now the world leader in industrial 

water and processing treatments. Its 

businesses cover all types of 

industrial water treatment areas 

including raw water, ultra pure water, 

cooling water, boiler water, seawater 

desalination, waste water and water 

reuse. GE W&PT has the capabilities 

to realize the “3R” concept (Reduce, 

Reuse and Recycle). 

GE W&PT is a total solution provider 

for industrial water & processing 

treatments. It offers a broad portfolio 

of products including water treatment 

chemicals, process additives, 

automatic chemical feed systems, 

membrane, and membrane 

elements, equipment and filters. The 

company also specializes in hydrocarbon 

processing, power, metal 

processing, food, pharmaceutical 

and automobiles.

GE is a leading company in seawater desalination 

technology. We can provide a total 

solution for seawater desalination. Traditional 

seawater desalination technology only 

changes seawater into freshwater; our 

solution will make comprehensive use of 

seawater, that is to make full use of all 

resources and energy during the process of 

seawater desalination. For instance, there is 

highly concentrated saline water left after 

seawater desalination. We will change it into 

purified salt with Zero Liquidity Discharge 

technology for supply to chemical industries. 

This is what distinguishes GE’s seawater 

desalination with other companies’. 

Currently, the cost of seawater desalination is 

higher than the price of water. But we have the 

reason to believe that the case will change. We 

believe that seawater desalination will have a 

bright future in China with a decreasing cost, 

and the ocean may become our large reservoir. 

Q: GE W&PT has maintained sound growth 

since 2006. What will be the focus of future 

development and what is your development 

plan? 

Zhou: First of all, we will give priority to the 

stable development of the chemical products 

business. As the base for the overall business 

of GE W&PT, it is very important to us. Besides, 

we will focus efforts on following aspects. The 

first is drinking water. At present, traditional 

filtration technology has been adopted to

produce most of drinking water in China. 

However, as the global standard for drinking 

water becomes more and more higher, 

especially after China introduced a new 

standard for drinking water this year, 

traditional technologies for drinking water 

treatment can hardly meet the national 

standard. Therefore, we believe there will be a 

huge market for drinking water purification 

technology in China, and we will focus on 

drinking water purification with membrane 

technology. The second aspect is reuse of 

wastewater from both public utilities and 

industrial production. We will attach importance 

to the development of Zero Liquid 

Discharge technology. The third is seawater 

desalination. We believe it is an efficient way 

to increase a country’s fresh water resources 

and China is not an exception. 

Q: You have worked for GE for almost 8 

years. In your opinion, what is the most 

important thing you have got from GE? And 

how do you feel when working for GE’s 

different businesses? 

Zhou: I joined GE in 1999. During the past 8 

years, I learned a lot at GE. One thing that 

has impressed me most deeply is how to 

develop our business on the basis of integrity. 

Meanwhile, I have also learned at GE 

how to lead a team to expand our business 

under the condition of fierce market competition. 

At GE, there are three principles you 

must observe no matter what business or 

position you are assigned. First, you must 

put integrity before everything; second, you 

must commit yourself to good performance; 

third, you should always get ready for the 

continuous changes in the market as well as 

of the company itself. These principles are 

always the same no matter what businesses 

you work for. 

Q: Could you give some advices to young 

people on career development? Especially for 

those what want to work at GE? 

Zhou: GE is a great company, in particular, for 

those who are resolved to pursue career 

achievements. He will get various training and 

practice opportunities at GE. If there is any 

suggestion, I think, first of all, you should 

concentrate on your current job. Don’t think too 

much about other things and just focus on 

what you are doing and do it well. Second, you 

should have higher expectations on your 

performance from the perspective of a higher 

level. Your leader will tell you what to do, and 

you should first try your best to get it done. If 

you can also look at your performance from a 

higher level, someday you will prepare yourself 

for a more important job. So, my little suggestion 

is that, don’t think about your career plan 

everyday. Not that career planning is not 

important, it is far more important to get your 

current job done and do it well.

On September 28, 2007, one month before its anniversary, the 

Wal-Mart Changxiang card won the “Excellent Marketing Award” in 

the “2006-2007 China Outstanding Marketing Awards Competition”, 

one of the leading marketing competitions among all industries in 

China. The award won by the Wal-Mart Changxiang card represents 

the recognition of its innovative product features, its strong value

2007年9月19日至22日,GE航空集团参加第十二届北京国际航空展览会, 

并首次展出了CF34-10型航空发动机。 

CF34发动机家族是目前GE公司最畅销的发动机系列,订货量以及已投入使 

用的已达到5000台。其中,CF34-10A型发动机已装载在国产ARJ21-700型 

新支线客机上。

GE Joined 12th Beijing 

International Aviation Expo 

GE Aviation joined 12th Beijing International Aviation Expo held at 

China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from September 19 to 

22, 2007, and showcased CF34-10 aircraft engines for the first time. 

CF34 engine family is the best-seller within GE Aviation, with about 

5,000 engines on order or in service powering regional jet aircraft. 

Among them, CF34-10A has been installed to power the China’s 

home-made ARJ21-700 regional jet aircraft. 

The Aviation Expo, held bi-annually, is the most influential and 

long-standing air show in China. 176 exhibitors from 22 countries 

and regions joined this year's show.

GE’s Leading Role in 

China Modern Railway Technology 

On September 5-9, 2007, GE Transportation joined the 8th International 

Modern Railway Show (IMRS) and showcased the latest 

Railway Technology on Locomotive, Modernization, Global Rail 

Operation, Signaling, Services and Heavy Haul Technology. 

Mr. Tim Schweikert, CEO of GE Transportation China was invited to 

attend the opening ceremony on September 6. Liu Zhijun, Minister of 

China Ministry of Railways (MOR) and his group visited the GE Booth. 

Weiming Xiang, General Manager of Marketing & Business Development 

of GE Transportation China Region, gave a detail introduction of 

the GE Booth to Minister Liu and his group. 

During the show, GE Transportation also attended the 8th International 

Modern Railway Equipment and Technology Exchange 

Meeting, held by the China Railway Society and approved by the 

MOR. Lu Dongfu, vice Minister of MOR, and He Huawu, Chief 

Engineer of MOR delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. GE 

Transportation was invited to give speeches on up-to-the-minute 

technologies in sub meetings on Rolling Stock, Signaling and 

Heavy Haul Technology. 

The 8th IMRS, the biggest show on China Railway, was approved and 

organized by the MOR, and attracted 225 exhibitors from the MOR 

and worldwide companies. MOR paid special attention and put big 

efforts into this show, all officials and staff from MOR, leaders from all 

railway bureaus, companies and Institute under MOR came to Beijing 

to attend this show.

GE Security Presents New Product - DirecDoor 

The DirecDoor controller from GE Security is the only 2-reader 

and 2-door Power over Ethernet (PoE) IP-connected access 

controller in the industry, which was launched on September 21, 

2007. DirecDoor integrates with GE’s Facility Commander 

WNX, Secure Perfect ® , and Picture Perfect access control and 

integrated security management software. It can utilize PoE or 

can be powered by a local power supply. It can even power lock 

hardware in its PoE configuration. Its simple plug-in installation 

significantly reduces labor costs and allows new doors to be 

efficiently controlled using on-line access systems.

The DirecDoor controller is located on the secure side of the door, 

thereby providing a much better IP solution than an IP reader. Unlike 

a less secure IP reader solution, whose Ethernet port, card database 

and access to the door strike relay lie outside the protected area, the 

DirecDoor controller significantly reduces the possibility that 

security could be compromised.

GE Launches OptiSonde Chilled Mirror Hygrometer 

On November 26, 2007, GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies announced the introduction 

of the OptiSonde humidity indicator, transmitter and data logger. The OptiSonde 

is the first chilled mirror hygrometer to offer the precision and repeatability previously 

found only in laboratory standards, in a compact and economical instrument suitable for 

industrial applications. 

The OptiSonde is used to calibrate and verify a wide variety of humidity sensors and 

instruments. It is ideally suited for documenting the environmental conditions of process and 

storage areas. The OptiSonde utilizes technology of choice for monitoring humidity and 

temperature in pharmaceutical processes, environmental test chambers, automotive and 

aerospace engine emissions and testing of heat exchanger and air conditioning performance 

testing applications. 

Incorporating a rugged, compact design, the OptiSonde is truly 1% RH hygrometer 

equipped, which facilitates recordings of test environments, with an internal data logger.

GE Water 2007 China Tour Show held by GE Water & Process 

Technologies concluded successfully in Chengdu, Guangzhou and 

Jinan from July 25 to September 28, 2007. Focused on the subject 

of energy saving, discharge reducing, water saving and improving 

the operation of equipment, the GE Water 2007 China Tour Show 

aimed to provide its customers with a series of total solutions 

targeted at water use requirements in different industries and 

areas of China. About four hundred experts, leaders and technicians 

in Central China, South China and North China attended the 

series of seminars and participated in the technology panel 

discussion activities. The tour show got significant support from 

all local governments.

GE, NDRC Co-Host Water Saving Technology and 

Policy International Forum 

GE Water & Process Technologies (GE W&PT) introduced the industrial 

water reuse and water recycling solutions and leading technologies 

available to tackle the most challenging shortage water problems in 

China at the Water Technology and Policy International Forum In 

Shanghai on October 23-24, 2007. 

The forum, co-hosted with the National Development and Reform 

Commission (NDRC) at GE China Technology Center, was participated 

by a total of 162 officials from NDRC and local DRCs, related trade 

associations, leaders from large water-consuming enterprises, 

experts from US, Canada and Singapore, and managers from GE and 

GE W&PT. 

During the two-day conference, Chinese officials talked on the 

development trend of Chinese and world water treatment as well

as water-conservation policy, regulation and water management 

experience. 

John Rice, GE Vice Chairman, said in the opening address that GE 

would work with the government to help solve the water scarcity and 

treatment challenges. Steve Fludder, Vice President of GE W&PT, said 

GE will work with Chinese customers to achieve the goal set in 

China’s 11th Five-year Plan to reduce water consumption by 30% per 

10,000 RMB of industrial capacity increase through cost reduction 

and Improved reliability. 

Mr. Ma Liqiang, Deputy Secretary-General of NDRC, said in a 

speech that the forum “provided an effective exchange and 

cooperation platform for the Chinese water Industry and 

multinational companies.”

To close the gap between the original name and its new solutions 

offerings, GE Fanuc decided to change its name from GE Fanuc 

Automation into GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms on October 15, 2007, 

and launched its new Chinese website (www.gefanuc.com.cn) on 

November 26, 2007. 

“Intelligent” speaks to the sophistication of GE Fanuc’s solutions and 

people, while “Intelligent Platforms” bridges its automation and 

embedded offerings. It also demonstrates the company’s evolving 

customer base and emerging market opportunities. By pulling 

together Automation, CNC and Embedded Systems under the new 

name Intelligent Platforms, the company is giving formal recognition 

to its new technology environment. The new Chinese website has

GE’s New Contribution to China Healthcare Market 

GE Healthcare Clinical Systems launched a series of new 

products during the China International Medical Equipment Fair 

(CMEF) in Chengdu on October 24, 2007. 

Products that represent global cutting-edge technologies in 

medical devices, i.e. Voluson E8 Ultrosound Machine, Dash 5000 

Patient Monitor and the Engstrom Carestation as well as affordable, 

reliable and easy to use technology specially developed for 

China’s basic medical market by GE Healthcare were released. 

The later includes the MAC C3 Portable EKG machine, Dash 1800 

Patient Monitor and the C5 C Series Ultrasound Machine. 

The launch of the “Linglong” X-ray machine in April and the 

release of new product specially designed for China’s rural 

communities unveiled this time, all indicate a strategic research 

direction of GE Healthcare, according to GE management, which 

shows GE’s efforts in helping China strengthen its rural medical 

facilities and develop its urban community medical services, and

Donation to Anhui Yuexi 

High School 

On September 27, 2007, volunteers from GE Water & Process 

Technology (GE W&PT) went to Yuexi High School which is located in 

the hinterland of Dabie Mountain of Anhui Province. They donated 

RMB 34,000 on behalf of GE W&PT to help four excellent students 

complete their high-school study. They also presented books and 

notebooks to the school at same time. All the donation came from 

the “Global Sourcing Outstanding Award” won by Sky Peng, GE 

W&PT’s Equipment Sourcing Leader Asia Pacific.

GE志愿者为大学生点亮求职 

路上的明灯 

2007年10月20日,十一位来自GE水处理及工艺处理集团业务部门和GE中国 

研发中心的志愿者们来到上海同济大学,为37位学生开展了一场名为“职 

业发展及事业规划”的精彩讲座。 

GE水处理及工艺过程处理中国北方区销售经理来志刚、GE中国研发中心水 

处理技术总监孔顺天受邀参加并分别以“职业选择、求职、人脉及面试指 

导”和“模拟面试”为主题和同学们进行了交流。志愿者和同学们以小组 

的方式对就业问题继续进行深入探讨,志愿者们也以自身的工作经历和发 

展成长来引导大学生们建立良好的职业生涯理念。大学生们还参加了志愿 

者为他们设计的模拟面试,真实感受了现实中的面试场景,同时,志愿者 

们在面试方面提出了许多宝贵建议。 

此次活动是由JA国际青年成就组织发起的一年一度的“JA志愿者日 

活动”。 

GE Volunteers Offered Career 

Guidance to Undergraduate 

Students 

On October 20, 2007, 11 volunteers form GE Water and China 

Technology Center (CTC) Research & Development held a “Career Go!” 

workshop with 37 undergraduates from Tongji University. 

After two workshops about “Career Options, Job Search, Networking 

and Interview Guide” and “Mock Interview”, which were presented by 

Larry Lai, North China Manager of GE Water and Steven Kloos, AP 

Technology Leader of GE CTC Water, the rest of our volunteers 

formed a team to share their experiences and insights, gained 

through hard work, with students. Finally, the volunteers organized a 

“Mock Interview” with students give them a first hand experience of a 

job interview. 

This was a part of the “Junior Achievement Volunteer Day” event 

launched by JA International Junior Achievement in October every year. 

GE传感与检测科技爱心牵手 

民工子弟学校 

2007年10月12日,GE传感与检测科技的23名志愿者来到上海烛光小学,与 

师生们再次牵手,共享GE全球社区日之“大手牵小手”活动。烛光小学是 

上海闵行郊区一所为民工子女所设的学校。GE传感与检测科技的志愿者帮 

助学校建立了图书馆和电脑教室,购买了教学书籍及课外读物,并订阅了 

期刊杂志。“大手牵小手”活动是GE在国际志愿者组织“牵手上海”的帮 

助下举办的系列活动。 

Volunteers from GE Sensing & 

Inspection Technologies Help 

Migrant Workers’ Children 

On October 12, 2007, 23 volunteers from GE Sensing & Inspection 

Technologies revisited Shanghai Zhuguang Migrant School to 

celebrate GE Global Community Day with “Small Hands in Big Hands” 

activities. The students in Zhuguang Migrant School are all rural 

laborers’ children who migrated to Shanghai with their parents. GE 

Sensing & Inspection Technologies volunteers helped the school 

establish a new library and a computer lab. They also bought 

textbooks and extracurricular reading materials, and subscribed 

journals and magazines for students. The “Small Hands in Big Hands” 

project is one of a series of volunteer activities held by GE Sensing & 

Inspection Technologies to help the local community. The program is 

in partnership with “Hands on Shanghai”, an international volunteering 

organization.

—GE中国研发中心志愿者走进张江育 

苗小学 

2007年 10月 13日,30余位GE中国研发中心(CTC)的志愿者们来 

到上海张江育苗小学,来自法务部、财务部、人力资源部等各部门 

的同事发挥各自专长,开展了丰富多彩的小小GE培训课程,并向学 

校捐赠了体育器械。 

“GE Trainings” in Yu Miao Migrant School 

Over 30 volunteers from GE China Technology Center (CTC) Operation kicked off the “GE 

Trainings” in Yu Miao Migrant Primary School in Zhangjiang on October 13, 2007. Colleagues 

from Legal, Finance and HR teams prepared interesting games relevant to their roles. They 

launched various mini GE trainings for pupils and donated sport equipment to the school.
