THE MIROKU I0 ADVANTAGE 1
The desire for perfect scores by clay target
shooters has led to two great features -
Barrel porting and Overboring.
Porting - the upward flip after firing is
significantly lessened by the positioning of
ports (holes) in the barrel which release
excess gases upwards to drive the barrel
downwards correcting the flip. I
Over Boring -the enlargement of the whole
barrel has been shown to reduce recoil and
improve patterns as the shot and wad are not
crushed when in the barrel. One ounce loads
particularly have shown improved patterns
in overbored guns.
These great features make the Miroku
Model 10 an outstanding gun that will put
you on target and on the winner's dias.
The State Shooting Park at Virginia. SA, home of International
Saturday, March 27
In a departure from the usual programming, the State Open
Shoulder to Shoulder Teams Match was shot prior to the
in that the dignitary opening the Champianships was able to
present the badges and ACTA Cup to the winning team, and
more people were in attendance for the official opening to add
extra coiaur to the proceedings.
By Lost Bird
Bundaberg - 4 April
In late 92 and early '93 we parted with B grade shooters Bany.
Chris. Glno. Dick. Paul. Pedro and Kevin to Agrade, thinking this
would open up Bgrade. Then up pops anewlotofB gradeshooters
and one of these to excel himself at Bundy was new B grade
shooter Ken Shaw.
The shoot was Bundy's lOOt DB. Ken put the first three
twenty-fives together and had about three targets left and would
have his fourth twenty-five. I was in the same squad as Ken, and
thought he was there. when he had a miss-lire, we heard the
click. The leferee took over, a new cartridge was placed in the
gun, but the break in concentration told and Ken missed hisnext
bird. With a ninety-nine sitting in the clubhouse. Ken then had
to shaot-off with Neil Beny who took out the Overall, but Ken
will hear that click for a long time. Good shooting Ken and Neil.
At least you have your 75 break badge Ken.
relocating to the Atherton Rfle Range. This new location is
more central, to not only shooters on the Tableland, but also
shooters from the coastal region. The disbanding of the two
clubs to allorv the formation of one central club, had many
shooters feeling sad, for there are a lot of memories attached
SHOOTERS PROFILE
Name: Jon Whittakers
Date oflirth: 28-5-43
Date commenced shooting:
Early in 1973 I went shooting for the first time in a sandpit
outside Deniliquin using a handcocked thrower and an old
Greener Double Barrel. After a very enjoyable day I thought this
was something I would have to try again.
The first gun club shoot I attended was the Deniliquin Grand
Prix in October 1973 where I missed five of the first six targets I
shot at. Things had to get better!
Preferred discipline:
DTLas this was the major competition in my area when1 starled.
I have shot quite a bit of skcet and trench in my earlier shooting
days, but DTL remains my preference.
Gun details:
My present gun is a Blwwning 87 Trap gun with an adjustable
By Gerry Chizzotti, State Director of
Coaching, Queensland
On Saturday 6th March 1993 the Queensland Northern Zone
Coaching Seminar was held at Charters Towers Gun Club.
Attendance was excellent with six Level 1 coaches, three Level 2
coaches and thirteen individual shooters. A pleasing aspect to
come fmm the seminar was the request by four of the members
to undertake Level 1 accreditation and a iequest by a Level 1
coach to progress towards Level 2.
As State Director of Coaching. I was pleased to see this
commitment to coaching by all present.
The opening of the seminar was handled by Mr Tom Comerford.
who addressed those assembled on what is coaching and what
coaches need to be sttiving to achieve.
Following on fmm the opening. I explained the ACC/ACTA
Update Policy which applies to all coaches regarding their
accreditation status as active and non-active coaches. Alengthy
session was then held outlining items from the Fourth Elite
Coaches Conference held in Canbema. A point discussed in
denth was situational leadershin, which is not somethinevou -, do
Andrew Larsen p~esented a lecture on vision, explaining some of
the methods used by top coaches in the USA, where he had spent
time under their instruction. This session held the attentlon of
all and many questions were put to Andrew.
Bob and Arthur Scott had set up their cl~ronogmph and those
present took the opportunity to try the perfotmance of their pet
loads. Tilere wele many good and interesting points discussed.
Angelo Zappala gave a talk on the value of using a pattern board
to help Gun-Fit. All present were eager to Learn more and to see
how thev and their tuns - . verformed. At the S D C C ~ ~ installed ~ V
To finish a very complete day. Arthur Kenna gave a
presentation on centring 'Preparation before it is your turn to
shoot, focus on the target.'
AUinallagood seminar, wellattended and by the feedbackreceived
on Sunday, most thought it a well presented coulse out of which
much was learnt. An opinion expressed was that a seminar evely
12 months is too big a gap, with a 6 monthly semlnar being
p~efened. A promise to put this point to the QCTA was given.
In closing. I would like to thank the president and committee of
the seminar. I would also like to express my appreciation to all
the individ~tai people that assisted in many ways to make the
